  1. My SW TX initial plan seemed ideal before the weather scuppered it. Now... east on I-40 to near the path, get up early and drive to a likely spot and hang out
  2. Gonna be get into a circle of X hours driving, then fight the traffic jam that is likely if everyone needs to move to that patch of blue over there...
  3. SpaceX is targeting Friday, April 5 for a Falcon 9 launch of 21 Starlink satellites, including six with Direct to Cell capabilities, to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. Liftoff is targeted for 7:31 p.m. PT, with backup opportunities available until 11:25 p.m. PT. If needed, additional opportunities are also available on Saturday, April 6 starting at 7:25 p.m. PT.
  4. Berger linked to this: http://arctic.som.ou.edu/tburg/products/realtime/eclipse/ useful
  5. Yeah, SW TX is very much like NM... blowing dust I would expect, total overcast is rare. Course it's closer to the coast than what I really know as SW TX (more towards El Paso).
  6. Yeah, but denser clouds = more white (certainly from above). It's lousy data visualization, IMNSHO.
  7. Best bet might be to simply get on I-40, and keep going into AR. 11 hours, major highway so easy travel.
  8. If I got tickets to Syracuse for $2200 I could do that. then a couple hundred for a hotel. Son has school, so I want him back Monday night for school Tuesday. Wife has cases Monday, so she can't go anyway. Think I just drive towards SE OK and cross fingers.
  9. Figured I'd rent a car and sack out in it, then fly home. https://graphical.weather.gov/sectors/conusLoop.php#tabs Select cloud cover can loop, or you can set day
  10. The trick is where the clouds won't be. I have half a mind to blow a few grand and fly someplace clear
  11. My drive to SW TX is now looking more and more like a drive to N of Dallas, maybe SE OK. Son works afternoons Saturdays, so we have to leave Sunday... it'll be a fun road trip.
