My SW TX initial plan seemed ideal before the weather scuppered it. Now... east on I-40 to near the path, get up early and drive to a likely spot and hang out -

Gonna be get into a circle of X hours driving, then fight the traffic jam that is likely if everyone needs to move to that patch of blue over there... -

Yeah, SW TX is very much like NM... blowing dust I would expect, total overcast is rare. Course it's closer to the coast than what I really know as SW TX (more towards El Paso). -
Launch tonight in about 4.5 hours.

Best bet might be to simply get on I-40, and keep going into AR. 11 hours, major highway so easy travel. -

If I got tickets to Syracuse for $2200 I could do that. then a couple hundred for a hotel. Son has school, so I want him back Monday night for school Tuesday. Wife has cases Monday, so she can't go anyway. Think I just drive towards SE OK and cross fingers. -

Figured I'd rent a car and sack out in it, then fly home. https://graphical.weather.gov/sectors/conusLoop.php#tabs Select cloud cover can loop, or you can set day -

The trick is where the clouds won't be. I have half a mind to blow a few grand and fly someplace clear -

My drive to SW TX is now looking more and more like a drive to N of Dallas, maybe SE OK. Son works afternoons Saturdays, so we have to leave Sunday... it'll be a fun road trip. -
