  1. 4 steering fins, launch at 45+ degrees or so. you should drop almost on top of it. Just steer a bit on the drop, like a guided bomb.
  2. This. Lots of this. Id also like to be able to go back to say, Step 2 after completing the mission series. Those little flight targets are fun to aim at.
  3. What? The first mission has a weight limit of 3.3 tons, and the only engine provided weighs 3.6 tons... This don't make no sense... EDIT: Gahhh! I figured it out. I am totally in love with these challenges now.
  4. Kinda surprised that nobody's talking about the fact that those boosters reversed from 1,000 mph, back towards Canaveral. And THEN had power left to land. How can they possibly be so much more efficient than anything flown before? That's basically 2.5 full launches worth of fuel for each of them..
  5. I've applied a few times, never got a response. lol
  6. I set the livestream up in a conference room for my coworkers. We all clapped when the boosters landed - that was just incredible. I could sense the dread from some of them though... We're a NASA contractor.
  7. ^^^ This. Although, I'm 100% certain that it won't be a 'permanent death' for the industry.
  8. All fun and games, until the 'cease and desist' letters start flying.
  9. "KSP isn't mentioned" - Well, they did say 'all future games', but I suppose we could assume they sell KSP at some point, for no reason whatsoever? "..if T2 has any long term plans for KSP" - what do you think they bought it for? Kerbal plushies? "first DLC for the original game" - Why do you suppose we HAVE a DLC, after 6+ years of development? "...if SQUAD are interested in doing a sequel" - They can do it, or T2 will find someone else to. There shall be a sequel. "...what could change in the industry" - Ok, you've got me there. Maybe they change their minds all of a sudden. Heck, why bother looking at things that are happening, it's gonna change
  10. Nope, just struck me as an item of interest, relative to the future of a game that we all care about, and it's attendant DLC. An uninformed consumer is a slave to the merchant, and all that. Not sure what you see here as 'unsubstantiated', but you're free to bury your head.
  11. Yes, that's much more reassuring “We’ve said that we aim to have recurrent consumer spending opportunities for every title that we put out at this company, (you will spend more on every title)” said Zelnick. “It may not always be an online model (DLC), it probably won’t always be a virtual currency model (In-Game Shops), but there will be some ability to engage (spend) in an ongoing basis with our titles after release across the board. I mean, I appreciate the honesty from them. It's nice that they feel comfortable in stating outright that they'll expect more-than-full-price for every product in the future. And yeah, there may not be a KSP2 (of course there will be, why do you think they bought it), and I certainly can't predict how they'd implement it (eternal DLC, kerbal outfits), but there is cause for concern here (unless you love spending extra money).

  13. You're right, I'm a b00b. It's Science [x] that I've been using - for some reason, I thought it was called ScienceNow... It's incorporated the old push-button features from ScienceAlert (which should be part of stock KSP arrrgh!)
  14. Again, I'm kind of stunned that this was recognized by the community - I don't think that I'm all that well-known, but it means a lot that someone noticed and called them out for it. I guess I can't blame Squad or the mods, if the story is true. I don't like it, but spilled milk is spilt. I work with SQL a lot in my career, and I'm pretty amazed that anyone would allow a deletion proc on their server, without any kind of backup/revert capability. It should only require a simple ROLLBACK TRANSACTION command, if the server is run properly, but perhaps that's not the case. I also find it odd that my post count is still stored, but everything else is wiped. If that's a live count (which I'm almost certain it is), then the content is still floating around in there somewhere. Whatever, so be it, like I said - it's annoying for me, but really a shame for the newer users, and I did enjoy posting some helpful tips in the Gameplay Questions area. I'll still be around, but I have to admit this episode has tamped down my enjoyment of the forums. I'll still be launching kerbals and looking forward to the next iteration of the game, and it's still the best 15 bucks I've ever spent for gaming.
  15. I actually just attach mine to the top of the lander with a stack separator. Add a fairing around it, to protect during ascent.
  16. The problem, of course, is using the intellectual property of existing mods, deciding to monetize it after the fact, and then threatening to sue the original modders.
  17. I know, I know. People either love or hate them. They make no sense in an RPG, for example, but they really do in a game without a "level" structure, involving genuine player skill, like KSP does. It's nice to have consistency across the different games, too (Steam Achievements). No reason you can't have both in- and out-of-game cheevos. I enjoy Final Frontier as well, but he's got some wacky stuff in that list, and misses the more generic things that you would expect in a cheevo list.
  18. I'm expecting some sort of Steam Achievements as well. I heard the "divide the playerbase" excuse, but console players already have them.
  19. That's a good point. Frankly, I think it's a shame that the Debug toolbar i still available in the base game, but... I guess that's the problem with such an indie sort of game. I don't think any of the mods would really make it that much easier to do things, other than MechJeb, of course.
  20. Has it been considered that we could use the "anonymous game progress data" to automatically populate ribbons or icons in our forum signatures? Im aware of the one already used by players, but it would be nice to have an "official" recognition of in-game achievements (since we can't have achievements).
