  1. Oh, I see the update on GitHub. I was checking CKAN, which I think pulls from SpaceDock, which isn't updated. I'm not sure how all those interact.
  2. Sorry to be that guy, but is 1.3.0 compatibility on the horizon? Can I do anything to help?
  3. I have not, because that would take some actual piloting effort, and I was just cheating. I'll see.
  4. KSP Version: 1.2.2.1622 (WindowsPlayer x64) What Happens: Attempting to perform an orbital survey of the sun gives a weird error message. Mods / Add-Ons: Tested with no mods. Steps to Replicate: Place a craft with an M700 Survey Scanner into any orbit of the sun (including a polar orbit). Right-click the scanner and click Perform orbital survey. Result: The following message is displayed: Note that the larger number is first, but neither one makes sense for an orbit of the sun. Regardless, that message shouldn't appear. Perhaps it should just repeat the “Survey Scanner disabled ...” message? Or the button should be disabled? Fixes/Workarounds: None/ignore it. Other Notes/Pictures/Log Files: Here's what you see if you deploy the scanner and then attempt a survey. Note the conflicting messages. My orbital parameters are visible in the debug window. Vaguely related note: If you can't scan the sun because it has no surface, how can you scan Jool?
  5. So Jool takes a long time and a lot of electricity to scan, amirite? I was wondering about the differences in time and power consumption when survey-scanning different bodies, but all I could find was the general idea that it generates data and has to be transmitted, like science. But how much data? So I scanned every body and did some math and here you go! Replicated here, but this is all hand-entered so don't trust it completely: Power (⚡) Body Kerbol Kerbin Mun Minmus Moho Eve Duna Ike Jool Laythe Vall Bop Tylo Gilly Pol Dres Eeloo Mits – 123 42 15 51 141 66 27 1200 102 63 15 123 3 9 30 45 Communotron 16 – 738 252 90 306 846 396 162 7200 612 378 90 738 18 54 180 270 Communotron 16-S – 738 252 90 306 846 396 162 7200 612 378 90 738 18 54 180 270 Communotron DTS-M1 – 738 252 90 306 846 396 162 7200 612 378 90 738 18 54 180 270 Communotron HG-55 – 820 280 100 340 940 440 180 8004 680 420 100 820 20 60 200 300 Communotron 88-88 – 1230 420 150 510 1410 660 270 12000 1020 630 150 1230 30 90 300 450 HG-5 High Gain Antenna – 1107 378 135 459 1269 594 243 10800 918 567 135 1107 27 81 270 405 RA-2 Relay Antenna – 2952 1008 360 1224 3384 1584 648 28800 2448 1512 360 2952 72 216 720 1080 RA-15 Relay Antenna – 1476 504 1080 612 1692 792 324 14400 1224 756 180 1476 36 108 360 540 RA-100 Relay Antenna – 738 252 90 306 846 396 162 7200 612 378 90 738 18 54 180 270 Time(s) Body Kerbol Kerbin Mun Minmus Moho Eve Duna Ike Jool Laythe Vall Bop Tylo Gilly Pol Dres Eeloo Mits – 123 42 15 51 141 66 27 1200 102 63 15 123 3 9 30 45 Communotron 16 – 37 13 5 15 42 20 8 360 31 19 5 37 1 3 9 14 Communotron 16-S – 37 13 5 15 42 20 8 360 31 19 5 37 1 3 9 14 Communotron DTS-M1 – 22 7 3 9 25 12 5 210 18 11 3 22 1 2 5 8 Communotron HG-55 – 6 2 1 3 7 3 1 60 5 3 1 6 0 0 2 2 Communotron 88-88 – 6 2 1 3 7 3 1 60 5 3 1 6 0 0 2 2 HG-5 High Gain Antenna – 22 7 3 9 25 12 5 210 18 11 3 22 1 2 5 8 RA-2 Relay Antenna – 43 15 5 18 49 23 9 420 36 22 5 43 1 3 10 16 RA-15 Relay Antenna – 22 7 3 9 25 12 5 210 18 11 3 22 1 2 5 8 RA-100 Relay Antenna – 11 4 1 4 12 6 2 105 9 6 1 11 0 1 3 4 The original data and calculations are in this Google Sheet, so check me and correct me!
  6. Fun facts time! They're technically just called “Funds,” but several other names have been proposed (and are used informally). I like “spesos.”
  7. Aha, this is the first logical guide I've found! Thank you @Geschosskopf! Wouldn't orbiting the polar sats in opposite directions improve their coverage gaps?
  8. Oh, is 1.6.5 still compatible with KSP 1.1? I bumped the minimum version, but maybe I don't have to.
  9. Cool, done: https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/NetKAN/pull/4867 It's had an override for over a year: https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/NetKAN/commits/master/NetKAN/StageRecovery.netkan I didn't remove it, just bumped the version numbers.
  10. Oh, cool! No, I haven't. I was waiting for mods to update. I guess I'll cross this one off the list.
  11. I managed to hack the netkan well enough to bump the compatibility on CKAN to 1.1.99, but I don't know than I'm up to working on the real FMRS code. And I understand that it needs it, as it's not working in 1.2. Not to mention that we don't even have the source of the latest version. I'm considering just switching to Stage Recovery. It's not as cool, but it is actively developed.
  12. @pizzaoverhead, are you still working on this? Has anyone tried it in 1.2? Does it work?
  13. I might have been wrong there. From the top post: So now I don't know anything.
  14. Okay CKAN users! CKAN now installs the beta version from curse! So if you want, you can delete your manually installed GameData/FMRS and search for “FMRS” in CKAN. I've tested it and it works, but I make no guarantees. FYI, compatibility is patched up through 1.1.99, but we'll have to see if it does actually work with 1.2. Any prerelease testers care to check?
  15. Now it's not working for me. I don't think anything changed. Can someone confirm that FMRS beta is working on KSP 1.1.3? (On Windows, KSP x64) Edit: After about the 10th reinstall, it's working. Whatever.
  16. Separate response to these parts: I don't think so. I may stand to be corrected, but I believe that FMRS does not (and cannot) merge the ships from the other instances. It just figures out the benefits of the recovery, and then mods your main save with that extra money, science, etc. So your options for landing your discarded stages and keeping them are just the built-in ways: get them all into a stable situation together, then separate and fly them around one at a time keep them close enough together to stay loaded and switch back and forth between them a bunch use map view to switch back and forth between them a bunch. Good luck not crashing with #2 or #3 if you're doing anything more complicated than staging parachutes.
  17. Or do what I do: Have no idea where you're controlling from, stage, frantically mash bracket keys until you're looking at the main craft. Either way, you're right. I think the intended workflow for FMRS is to follow your main mission (probe, in this case) to orbit, then go back and clean up boosters, motherships, etc.
  18. I know, that's my post they're all quoting up there. But the beta is four months old now, and there hasn't been a peep since then about a new beta version, a release, or even updating CKAN. In fact, @SIT89 hasn't even visited the forum since then.
