Maybe CKAN could be more clear within the program itself, or its immediate help files/documentation/FAQ that its installs may not be supported by the mod authors, or even maintained by said authors, and provide some basic troubleshooting steps like starting with a fresh install of KSP and installing manually. If that is somewhere and I missed it I apologize (I've not had problems with CKAN), but taking a glance through the most visible "I need help" locations, I don't really see anything about what to do if a mod doesn't work. It's just left to the user, and the mod "homepage" is the most immediate thing to check. It's not a complete solution, but maybe it would help with volume.
