  1. Ok so I used the generator, but when i paste the code it gives me into the appropriate box on my signature editor it tells me it is an invalid file! Any ideas where i am going wrong? Please excuse my general ignorance in this matter.
  2. The scale issues aren't necessarily a problem. Units of measurement are arbitrary after all, i mean who says a Kerbal kilometer or kilogram is the same as it's SI equvalent? There are some very good examples of this on Earth now, just google 'Mile' and see how many variations there have been historically.
  3. Test complete, we have a winner!
  4. I love this and i want one! But when i try to upload it to my sinature it says 'invalid file' What gives?
  5. Does this restriction include my signature block? I can't seem to get it working.
  6. I think I may have come across a bit of a problem. I don't know if this has been raised already but here we go. So i have build a Kethane factory on the Mun, with Clamp'o'tron Jr docking ports on the side, so that i can transfer the products to my Rover based fuel tanker. The problem is that whenever i dock my rover to the converter, the combined ship seems to lose its frame of reference i.e. it stops rotating with the Mun and is fixed to the background stars. Now when i undock them the converter falls back to Mun and is fine but my rover does not, it seems to be stuck at whatever angle it was given and i cant change it with ASAS, RCS or main engines. Very frustrating, just wondering if there is a solution out there? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers, a very confuzzled rocketeer.
  7. I think the lights can be a very useful asset. I use them for two main activities, docking and landing. For docking i tend to use the square lights to illuminate the target ship (it can be very frustraiting when you are in the middle of a docking attempt and you suddenly pass into a planets shadow). I place them on all my ships that are capable of docking, angled to illuminate the main body, but i do something the other guys don't seem to do, i exclude the actual docking rings from the ships self illumination. This is because i also fit spot lights to the front of my docking ships, this helps me with aligning the ships for a successful dock. Remember you can quickly switch ships in orbit to turn the lights on by pressing the square brackets '[]' keys, just don't forget to turn them off! The second use i have for them is during landing. I place three symmetric round lights on the bottom of my landers, but crucially i place them so that the beams are not parallel, so that the spots will be seen to converge as you get closer to the ground. The spots on the floor give you a visual reference of your impending impact and with practice can be very useful for manual landings. It works in daylight too! Did you know that in the VAB you can adjust the angle (in 5 degree increments) of lights and any other part for that matter by holding SHIFT and pressing QE WASD keys?
  8. That is pretty amazing, though it does make sense. The optimum angle for a projectile is an inclination of 45 deg, that would give you maximum range for any given amount of thrust (this only really applies on the mun as there is no air resistance to consider). To get 100% efficiency you would have to do a suicide break at EXACTLY the right moment before landing Sounds dangerous to me, therefore sounds like a job for Jeb
  9. Hello Kerbonauts. I thought i would share a litte gem of an idea i stubled across that saves you from losing your probes. Here's the situation:- You have launched a sweet little probe out amongst the planets, but during the chaos of launching you forgot to deploy those folded solar panels and now your probe is completely powerless and you have no choice but to abandon it. Well here are a couple of solutions i use to avoid this happening (I have not yet found a way to truly ressurect a dead probe without this prior preparation) 1.Fit at least one basic square solar panel. This panel is always 'on' therefore all you have to do is wait for it to rotate sunward and you will get a trickle of power, should be enough to deploy your main solar panels. You would have to be really unlucky to be in a position where your emergency panel is permanently facing away from the sun. This can also be done with the nuclear generator but i find them a pain in the ass to fit, and they ruin the aesthetics. 2.Fit an emergency battery. This is my chosen method and it works like this. Fit a battery to your probe and just before launch right click on it. You will see a display of the batteries current charge and to the right hand side of that a small green triangle. If you click this triangle the power stored in this battery will not be used by your craft (it switches to a red stop sign) therefore if you happen to lose all the power on your probe you can switch it back on thereby activating your emergeny power supply (you do of course have to remember to isolate it befor launch). I hope somebody finds this useful, if anyone has any more little tips on this please feel free to share. May all your probes live long and fruitful lives.
  10. Oh no! No picture! Ok how do i upload a pic to this forum please?
  11. Hello all, i thought i would take this opportunity to introduce myself to this awesome community. I have been playing KSP for a while now (since version 16 i think) and it just gets better and better, it is dangerously addictive I am currently using version 19 (due to sucky internet download limits ), I also use the Mechjeb and Kethane mods. Mechjeb is indespensable to me, i don't think it is cheating as the fun part of the game for me is the design aspect, not the dumb luck of flying blind , i am after all an Engineer, not a chimp (Pilot). Kethane is good because it totally opens up the Kerbal solar system to me, my PC is quite old and massive multi-part ships are just not an option, so wherever my Kerbonauts go, refuelling must be taken into account. Looking forward to all the future updates and hope to have some interesting conversations with all you guys. I feel like i have found my geek Nirvana P.S. here is a pic of an early milestone in my Kerbal galactic conquest.
