  1. Maybe I'm just having issues. This is what mine looks like
  2. I've noticed that KSP doesn't have a steam icon. When I go to my menu in OSX to start playing it is only the bland steam icon that is shown. Lets make a steam icon maybe with a floating kerbal.
  3. 8.97 payload 56.43 ship mass at launch 15.90% payload decimal 5 stages (initial + 4 drop) Drag coefficient shows up as .197 because of mechjeb on the payload. I hope that's not disqualifying considering you did say we could use mechjeb. I used a similar design to Scott Manley's ship in this video. I'd call it Donkey Kong staging. There's a few extra images of moar boosters in the album.
  4. You can see objects in space with the unaided eye. http://iss.astroviewer.net/ STS75 also streamed a long tethered satellite that was visible from earth. INB4 UFO
  5. Asparagus interplanetary vehicle.
  6. Could you show us the math associated with this chart? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how you did this. Also what program are you using to produce the graphs?
  7. Too much to reply to right now. The total weight is total weight including fuel container weight. I should have been more clear. Adding more weight will have the effect of decreasing the Delta-V. I may need to make a blog post about this. Here's another graph somewhat self explanatory. The more kerbals you pile into your space craft (dead mass) the more fuel you will have to carry to increase your Delta-V.
  8. Very impressive! Did you construct it all as one piece in the VAB then separate the parts later?
  9. Assuming one engine and stable orbit in vacuum the total mass (engine + fuel) of your upper stage has to be over about 6 tons for Delta-V of the LV-N to become greater than the LV-909. There is usually a waste in Delta-V if the upper stage is not in orbit because of the large angles off of the prograde vector that may be needed to maintain altitude. Vacuum is at 70km so the ISP of the LV-N is likely much lower when you activate it inside the atmosphere. TL;DR For spaceships smaller than about 6 tons the LV-909 is more efficient than the LV-N For spaceships heavier than about 6 tons the LV-N is more efficient than the LV-909 I would get your LV-N into orbit before using it.
  10. Thanks! This is so much fun. It's going to be great to see the completed station in a proper cycler.
  11. Hi I'm new. Can I have permission to post in active threads? I can't make any posts to threads currently. Thanks!
  12. I've constructed a Triangular Bipyramid that is able to provide artificial gravity via rotation to 3 radially connected modules. It consists of 145 parts which could be reduced to as few as 100 if the 9 arm segments of 6 pieces were reduced to 1 longer modded piece. If you would like me to add this to the cylcler station let me know. Got the part count down to 66 :/
