  1. So... A few months ago I created a mod that adds the system from movie Interstellar to your game. And that I thought "Why not make a mod that adds a system from another Sci-Fi movie?" So, let me introduce... THE KOLYPHEMUS SYSTEM This mod adds the kerbalized version of Polyphemus and its moons from the movie Avatar. NOTE: Two of the bodies in the mod (Kolyphemus and Pandoor) is fully based off the Polyphemus and Pandora. Other moons of the Kolyphemus are not canonical. The system: Kolyphemus - a gas giant with oxygen atmosphere that orbits between Eve and Kerbin Kalatea - that weird moon is often called "The Space Cheese" due to its strange shape, orbits between Kolyphemus' rings Moei - a lava world Pandoor - a habitable planet with giant trees on its surface (the trees are WIP and may glitch) [MORE PICS] [DOWNLOAD FROM SPACEDOCK] If you like my mods, then why not leave a small donation to keep me be motivated doing another one? It really helps me out! Thanks to: @Artem Kerman for helping me a lot with the visuals @Samio for uploading the Moei color map in the Posiible planet additions thread
  2. A while ago I saw a video on YT of a recreation of the ISV Venture Star from James Cameron's Avatar. The spacecraft in the movie was part of a fleet of twelve vessels meant to carry people and cargo to Alpha Centauri. I love sci-fi. I really love sci-fi when they do their research and make something that is a lot closer to sci than fi. The ISV Venture Star falls into this category. It is quite the gorgeous ship and really quite practical and realistic (for a fictional interstellar starship) when it comes to parts, equipment, design, etc. The ship in the video was quite the amazing spacecraft and a very nice build, but I wanted to get as close to accurate as my rinky dink little computer can handle. So for the past few hours that's exactly what I did. Hope y'all enjoy! Here is a diagram and picture for reference: And here is mine (I tried to recreate the image, but then realized I had it rotated 90 degrees). Oh well.. It is approximately 925,000 tons fully fueled and about 1400 meters in length (slightly shorter than the diagram due to the fact that I did not include the shields and only the protective mirror). Astonishly I was able to make it with only 192 parts so my caveman computer can run it just fine (definitely could go twice that, but would be dealing with about 5-10 fps). I may even be able to make two valkyrie shuttles and attach them without it setting on fire! Thanks to whoever made the original video and craft as you are my partial inspiration for this! Let me know what y'all think! Cheers, Taylor EDIT: I will be spacing out the radiator slightly and extending the rear truss to more accurately match it. I'll eventually add the shields (I think) at which point I'll also angle the engines outward slightly to also more accurately match the spacecraft.
  3. Galaxy is a mod soon to be released that introduces more stars and planets into the game. The center idea behind Galaxy is to change the sun to be a black hole, scrap the original Kerbol system, and then make a new system orbiting a new star from which players start from. In addition to the new system an additional number of systems will be added. Current stars Alpha Da: A binary star system with a gas giant, Polyphelus, from the Avatar Movie. Polyphelus has four moons, one of which being Pandora. Darkstar: A black hole. Skylis: A small yellow star with one gas giant, Klon. Klon has two moons. Omega: A blue star with one planet, Zoola Future Developments: More Star Systems More planets and moons around stars Darkstar planetary system New Homeworld
  4. Why did you choose your avatar? I choose Kranz because I was reading his book. Why did you choose your username? I chose mine because when I created this account, I wanted to land on the mun. We choose to go to the Mun in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win.
  5. With the change to the new forum software, the old avatars were downscaled to atrocious quality; requiring a higher-res reupload. Since the forums only allow a square image not exceeding 0.25MB; and my avatar is a weird aspect ratio... I was forced to add padding to either side (I did not want to crop the Admiral's flippers.) This is the image I used as my avatar, I believe the forums itself transcode and save its own version of the avatar for local use on the server. And unless I am mistaken, transparency is not preserved in the conversion. And transparency would be nice to keep weird aspect ratio avatars from requiring solid color padding or cropping, especially if an image is used for the "cover photo" banner image on your profile (like mine which is part of the HubbleUDF.)
