  1. does anyone know the name of the mod I forgot? it adds fuel tanks, cargo tanks, epstein drives and similar stuff I'm not searching for alternatives, just for this mod
  2. ReMeMber the KANTERBURY ! Ice Hauler from The Expanse; Stock Kerbalified. Oye Beratnas, Kanterbury be chowing A'rocks all cycle long. The SAS is pomang kaka so use your RCS for fine navigation, sass? Kewe to pensa? For the Earthers: This is a sort-of-replica-what-I-call-Kerbalified-version of the Pur'n'Kleen Ice Hauler Canterbury, from the series "The Expanse". While it's designed to look (nearly, but not quite unentirely) like the ship its based on, it is at The Expense of making the thing work reasonably efficiently in KSP. So, part count is a low, low 200 It's those damnable RCS ports. I've kept everything else to a minimum to keep that count down; there's plenty of room for improvements on this vessel if you've got a computer to handle it. This thing will probably accommodate at least four Class A 'roids, maybe even six but for now there's just two grabbers. With the launcher this comes in at pretty hefty 372 parts. Fortunately by orbit you'll have ditched 172 of them. Mechjeb can get this thing to a circular 250km orbit without too many issues, though you will need to help steer the nose to the correct heading a little if it starts to tilt away from it. Don't forget to 'Control from here' on the command core (as pictured) before launch! CONTROLS AG1 Toggle Clamps AG2 Toggle Drill AG3 Toggle Drill Harvesting AG4 Toggle Solar Panels DOWNLOAD Kanterbury.craft 238Kb DOWNLOAD (craft with launcher) KanterburyLauncher.craft 459Kb Have fun, oyedeng!
  3. MCRN Corvette Class Frigate The Expanse is my favourite TV and Book series of all time. It's third season is releasing in just under 2 weeks, so I thought I'd celebrate with a replica of its hero ship and my favourite spacecraft, the Rocinante, a Martian Corvette Class Frigate, legitemately salvaged and used by the survivors of the Canterbury. My replica is just under 1:2 in scale, and uses entirely stock parts, though taking advantage of the paint function of DoctorDavinci's wonderful DCK mod. As the insanely efficient Epstein Drive puts out a whopping 5m/s Delta-V, you'll have to use infinite fuel if you want to go anywhere with it, though there is a method of creating a functioning Epstein Drive with some part editing, so I might make of version of this which uses that in the future. Unfortunately, state of the art Martian tech is fairly intricate, and as such it consists of 1111 parts. it is capable of sustained 8g flight, though this can lead to strokes and isn't reccomended, unless you're chasing a runaway asteroid or something. It was built in 1.3.1, but works in 1.4+. Action Group 1 toggles the Epstein Drive. Download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ij18t8scjoinxeg/MCRN Rocinante.craft?dl=0 Now to build a Donnager...
  4. I recently saw a post by @goduranus showcasing their way of replicating the (admittedly overpowered) fictional fusion rocket engine from the sci-fi series The Expanse, the "Epstein Drive". This propulsion system, invented in the series' backstory by a Martian drive engineer named Solomon Epstein is a unique way to tackle the "torch ship" concept- a very high TWR fusion rocket engine with near-fantastical levels of delta-V and fuel efficiency allowing for long 1G or higher thrust burns, created as a stroke of dumb (and ultimately fatal) luck by a man tinkering with his personal spacecraft. Now, with the capability to make Epstein Drive-propelled craft in KSP, I figured I'd tackle a replica of Mr. Epstein's infamous ship, his personal space yacht. As the Sun rises over Duna, Solomon Kerman preps his ship for launch on the first test of his newly modified drive system... ...Little does he know that he's about to make history. The ship utilizes a unique propulsion system, which features a group of spider engines (altered in the .craft file's values to have negative thrust % and thus mimic the high fuel efficiency and dV aspect of the Epstein Drive) and a single Vector (which mimics the high TWR and blue engine exhaust plume of the drive). This means that while you can indeed load it up in a vanilla, pure-stock game with no troubles, it is indeed "modded" in the context of having a tweaked craft file. However, this is only to accomplish the feat of replicating the insanely powerful features of the drive system without being forced to download or develop a custom part or part pack in order to do this. ^the speck in the background is Duna falling away! Internally, there's space for up to 4 Kerbals, which can be transferred to other vessels via a docking port on the underside of the bow- docking is possible thanks to multiple RCS blocks across the ship's structure. For reference, here is an image of this very same ship in the TV show, from Season 2: Controls: The ship stages to activate the engine, and you can press 4 to extend the radial antenna array (the larger one on the front section is manually raised). Light on/off toggling will not shut off the blue glow in the drive cone area. DOWNLOAD HERE! Hopefully other fans of the show and books will enjoy this ship as much as I have while making and testing it. If I can find the time and motivation, perhaps I'll use the same setup to make a Rocinante replica fitted with BDArmory vulcan turrets as PDCs...
  5. New game exploiting propulsion system found, move aside, kraken drive! Inspired by the Epstein Yacht from the Expanse TV series, this is a technology demonstration ship capable of crew crushing acceleration and nearly unlimited deltaV. Careful now, the Gs will make your Kerbals pass out, and you won't get controls back until the next solar system. Equipped with self-regenerating fuel systems for near infinite deltaV, a base for anyone who wants to build the Rocinante. https://kerbalx.com/goduranus/Epstein-Drive-Test
