  1. Given 1.11's new feature's, this opens up a whole range of opportunities such as adding to existing bases, Repair and improving in-situ, and most importantly, creating entire light craft anywhere in the kerbol system. Scoring system; The scores will be separated into two leader boards, Aircraft and Spacecraft. Each will be scored using a different formula, for example, Aircraft will be scored using the following equation; Range(km)* maximum-horizontal-speed(m/s) / Mass(kg) So therefore, a hypothetical craft able to fly 500km at 150m/s and weighs 1500kg (1.5t) would garner a score of 50. The Spacecraft, on the other hand (including landers, probes and the such like) will be evaluated using a simplified version of the above equation, e.g. DeltaV (m/s) / Mass(kg) Therefore a craft with 2000m/sΔv with a mass of 750kg (0.75t) would have a score of 2.6 EACH CATEGORY IS INDEPENDENT OF EACH OTHER. Furthermore, Kudo's will be given to the more extravagant location the construction of the craft will take place. Patch; Aircraft Leader Board 1. 2. Welcome To The KSC Grand Prix Here We Have a Fast and Technical Circuit Designed to push the limits of our contestants building and piloting skills. This event is open only to Ultralight Aircraft in 2 weight categories, >5 tons and <5 tons with an upper limit of 10 tons. Rules; Flying above 200 metres will result in disqualification all gates must be passed through in the correct order Craft may not be launched into the circuit any faster than they can achieve by themselves All craft Must weigh in at the correct weight for the category upon reaching Gate 1 Further Information: Submissions must include; A File of the Craft Screenshots of the craft entering Gates 1 and 4 and the finish line Including the MET OR A video of the craft performing the circuit The time of the craft will be calculated by the MET upon passing the finish line subtracted by the MET upon passing Gate 1 Below is the Map of the Grand Prix and my submission Good Luck! 3. Yatsykon Concept Co. - With us, you'll soar to new heights! After years of R&D, the Yatsykon Concept Co. is proud to unveil our first ever personal UltraLight™ aircraft! Powered by a C7 Aerospace J20 "Juno" Engine, and with a wingspan of over 17 meters, this small personal transportation craft provides an efficient alternative to the bulky, fuel-hungry, and expensive craft provided by other manufacturers. With a leisurely top speed of 130 m/s, the Yat-1 UltraLight™ provides you with enough range to get to the local island or mountain resort and back, many times! Aircraft Characteristics Top Speed - 130 m/s at 1,000 meters above sea level, in level flight. Fuel - 50 Units Optimal Fuel consumption - 0.04 Units/Second Optimal Range - 162.5 km Download Here The Imgur Albums are not working, so here's the album link.
  4. Sector 7 Space Laboratories - Aeronautics Division - Lil Tiger This craft is one of those craft that are nice to buzz around the Airbase with, it's quick to load because of it's low part count, lifts quickly and makes sharp bank turns. It handles full warp well but won't hold a good level flight at a high warp. Have fun! Lil Tiger Flight Operations: Engage SAS, throttle up to full then press spacebar and have fun! 5. Mission: Survive re-entry and landing without a parachute, without an engine, and without lift (wings, etc.). How to win: If your kerbal is still alive and at rest on the surface, you've done it. Main Goal: get a kerbal back to surface alive. extraGoal1: Start by launching your craft into low kerbin orbit (this is harder than it sounds if you plan to leverage terminal velocity on your way back in). extraGoal2: Land a capsule this way (with a kerbal inside it). extraGoal3: Land without destruction of parts. Rules: stock parts. yes, you may use EVA jets. yes, you may ski down the side of a mountain. Will consider parts with fins (lift parts) if you can argue they are not gliders. NO GLIDERS. Working example: http://imgur.com/BObWM0T Badge for badgers: http://imgur.com/FH1yMxT Has this been done before? In searching the challenge for terminal velocity I found no similar challenges. This challenge was inspired by ihtoit's skydive challenge.
