World War 2 era trucks expansion (NOW WITH DOWLOADS!)

Hello all I'm Planetfall, This is a bit of a necro post (pls don't hate me) But when reading the Space craft exchange guide to etiquette I came across how its Ok to necro as long it Adds new stuff to the conversation and I think craft files do.

please note this is my first showcase so I've probably made lots of mistakes. Constructive criticism is more than welcome.:)

I made this thread for RixKillian, author of this awesome thread http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/124716-Super-Detailed-WWII-Era-Vehicles-%28Planes-Tanks-Trucks-Boats%29-With-BD-Armory-Variants?highlight=GAZ+AAA, because as the title suggests I reverse engineered his GAZ AAA cab and made 5 different variations. These are NOT replicating any specific trucks, I made them only to be nice and retro.

Also I'm sorry i just don't have the time to figure out how to post craft files, I totally can post craft files!:D but I find building things the funnest part to KSP and hope you guys and gals get inspired by this to do something cool.

So with out further ado...

THE GAZ AAA TRUCK-BED EXPANSION PACK

Thanks for the feedback everyone!:D

 I had given up on this thread after no one had commented after 3 days. So I was happily shocked when I read Spacecraft Friday.I think I'm going to add some more pictures and maybe a video now  that people seem interested (though the last post was a month ago). I might post the video on a different thread.

I noticed on the Ambulance you tilted the structural panles used as the floor to eliminate z-fighting but you left the 'walls' at the same angle.

 

 You can auto snap to different angles no matter the starting angle by switching between states by pressing F. It will cycle from the part rotation to absolute angles.

Thanks Majorjim! Tips like yours really help the amount of key bindings in this game is truly astronomical.:rolleyes:

It takes a while to learn those things. Ive played for kod knows how many hours and I still hear things I didn't know to this day. What a game huh!

Impressive, but you got the wheel arrangement wrong the gaz-AAA (at least the WW2 model im thinking of).

The gaz-AAA has 6 wheels, 2 front, 4 rear.

And while i kno its hard to do stock, a quad maxim version would be amazing!

Too bad we cant really make good rapid-fire weapons in KSP (at least stock).  the best you can do is a single shot missole like weapon, or a mass dirver cannon which allowes somewhat automatic fire, its too big to make it look right ontop of ur truck.

Hmmmm... I think that wheel base your showing is actually better than the one I've made sense the wheel texture bugs out if you clip the wheels too much (the wheels look fully compressed even though the crash boxes aren't). I did use this bug to make a "hover" craft which was fun.:P

well as for the maxim I do have my Turreted Troop Transport which isn't really rapid fire but at least has three shots.(I'll add some action shots on the OP soon.(soon is my watchword:blush:)  

P.S I do have 6 wheels but the but two are hidden between the rear pair. Anyway thanks for the criticism, it makes me view my stuff from other people's perspective which is important when sharing.

P.P.S. I'm still deciding over a plane or a VTOL for carrying my trucks.

Here are some pics of my hovercraft  xGCOsR0.png it doesn't really float, it has wheels which touch the ground, but because of this bug with wheels if you clip them almost all the way into a part the wheels look fully compressed (and so sink intierly into  the craft) but the crash box act normal so it appears to hover. I have bin unable to replicate this though I haven't tried that hard as I discovered this trait by accident. I'm sure someone will figure it out (unlike me) Though with the new wheel physics coming out  this might not work soon :/  

This craft also has its CoM below the ground thanks to the RAPIERS so it is self stabilizing.

But of course such an interesting craft can be a tad unstable at times. tB0d3lL.png (Seconds before it exploded):cool:

Also the video I had planed didn't work out so... yah. I hope I hadn't gotten any ones hopes up. well y'all probably figured out the vid wasn't happening. sorry.

Welp, with the KSP dev team's addition of wheels that can be blocked, almost all of these crafts are probably useless. Almost all the wheels are incredibly claustrophobic, so unless there's a mod that removes this function, a LOT of rovers are gonna have to be redesigned, and less aesthetically pleasing.

Nope. Do nothing. Wheels will be 'unblocked' in version 1.2

Oh right blast it! I forgot about the wheel blocking. XP 

I remember fixing the base truck a while ago but it looked rather bad so I gave up. Well I hope you're right Major Jim.

i just looked that up and it looks awesome! I think I'm gon'a make one. Seems like a small modification, might try fixing the wheel while I'm at it.
