The Beauty of Teamwork

Hi guys!

Over the past 3 weeks I decided to have a shot at my first ever film, made in Kerbal Space Program. Overall I'm really happy with how it came out, and I hope you like it too!

The Story

After years of competitive development, the different rocketry corporations of Kerbin had gone their separate ways, and were now experts in their respective fields. As the modern era approached, collaboration had become a popular concept, allowing much larger projects to be completed without a lone company blowing the bank. With that in mind, everyone turned to their relations departments, and emails began to fly. It was proposed that a habitat in space should be built in a short period of time to demonstrate the capability of a combined space program to the Kerbin public. With all plans in place, engineers rushed to the drawing boards, and Project Cooperation began.

Probodobodyne
Having previously built space habitats, Probodobdyne was an essential player. Bringing a large amount of long term habitation experience to the project, they were put in charge of the service module, and also training crews who would eventually populate the small outpost.

Kerbodyne Rocketry
Kerbodyne spent a lot of time in the early stages refining their robotics. They proposed that a robotic arm would be a necessary addition to the new station, allowing it service itself without EVAs, and also assist any Kerbals on spacewalks. As a result they were tasked with construction of the habitat module (under close the supervision of Probodobodyne engineers) as a base for their Extra-Vehicular Manipulator Unit (EMU).

Periapsis Co
Originally a delivery company that turned an ambitious u-turn, Periapsis Co have stuck to their roots and are experts in resupply logistics. Skilled in the use of vacuum packaging and bubble-wrap, they repurposed their tried and tested Automatic Transfer Vehicle (ATV) into the station's permanent life support module.

C7 Aerospace Division
Aircraft designer by trade, some big-wig in head office asked "what would happen if we put rockets on a plane?". After years of designing, C7 was catapulted into the space industry with its wildly successful Space Transport System. As the most publicly known company of the sector, C7 acted as the link to the public
Wow. That was just, the best. We use pretty much all of the same add-ons. Heh. Can you provide a list of the visual add-ons, and what kind of specs you have? I'm trying to get my build to look half this good, and I just can't get a stable build running.
Thanks man :) Goodness there are a fair few...off the top of my head:

Scatterer
EVE (Using clouds from KSPRC)
Planetshine
Distant Object Enhancer
Kerbin Texture from KSPRC
Kerbin Side + KSC++
RealPlume
Smokescreen
...
Anything else you see where you wanna know where it's from?

My system specs aren't too beastly...
8GB RAM
GTX 760
Intel Pentium G3258 at like 3.8ghz

Also, I did use the 64bit workaround for about 80% of the film, but gave up with it after a while...so many crashes!
My 32bit install of it is completely stable and launches at about 3gb
I like it! Way to be, dude. You've inspired me to make another space station.
You can never have too many space stations ;) Edited by MrMeeb

Awesome work! I enjoyed every second of this video! Perfect recreation of the spirit behind the idea and construction of ISS :) BTW, can you release .craft files (at least for shuttle)? I have never seen a stockalike fleet accurate like yours

Working on it now :) I'm not sure if it'll work because I had to change some stats on the SSME and SRB to make it behave a bit more to my liking. Some call it cheating but I play faithfully other than that so...:3 I guess if you want the shuttle to work you'll need my tweaks so I'll see what I can do. I spent a lot of time in the VAB and SPH making these things. I'm glad you like them!

Okay here are the downloads! If you can't get it to work I don't know how far I'll be able to help out I'm afraid. I can try though :)

Thanks a lot! I will surely test them with no modifications. Anyway I have some small experience in .cfg tweaking, maybe I can sort something out

If you look at the shuttle's description on KerbalX it details which parts and what lines to modify. I have very minimal experience too, so hopefully it won't be too hard :)

What texture packs for the Kerbals did you use? Also, what about the Guyana Kerbal substitute?

- - - Updated - - -

Oh, and the tubes for the shuttle? And the robot arm for the Docking adapter

I saw you commenting on YouTube. Sorry I haven't replied until now

The Kerbals are stock, but if you mean the spacesuits then it's KSP Renaissance Compilation's textures.

The Guyana Launch Site is one of the many launch sites provided in Kerbin Side (it isn't called Guyana in game)

The tubes are procedural structural elements from Procedural Parts.

The robotic arm is from Infernal Robotics and is controlled through IR Sequencer.
What about the fairings, how'd you get them to be procedural?
I think the funny shaped Proton one is from "Procedural Fairings for everything!" But the fairings themselves are either stock (the Soyuz/Tantares ones) or from Procedural Fairings. Is that what you were asking? :)

Interloper

Then my own cut of Stormfront and Fanfare for Space

The finally Americana

I think that's it :)

All This...it says right above you? :')

You should continue this. I would love to see more from you. 1.1 is bring 64-bit back(Hopefully *Knocks on wood* not broken 64-bit). You would be able to have all those mods and more.

You're in luck! :D Even if it doesn't bring 64bit, I was already using it in this video for like 80% of the filming so :3

But yes, I already have a plan for 1.1 release. It's gonna be a longer series, and it won't be entirely cinematic. Instead, it'll be largely accelerated gameplay with commentary, but it will be supplemented with some cinematic stuff along the way. I find that if I were to do such a long mission in multiple parts, it'd be difficult to get originality and interesting camera angles and successful story telling (largely due to limitations in KSP meaning inside shots and work is way too much effort for me to also ENJOY making whatever I make) if it were all un-narrated and cinematic.  So, I'm basically going for something halfway between cinematic and gameplay. Hopefully it'll work. I've already done some proof of concept stuff and it seems to be okay, so yeah :)

lol What I meant was official non-broken 64-bit, instead of the crash at loading screen 64-bit hack.
