Fuel tank amounts as modem speeds? Easter Egg?

I searched for it quickly, but can't find a reference to it...

I've been playing KSP for a couple years now, and today was the first I'd noticed that many of the fuel tanks that have been around a while hold an amount of liquid fuel that is an old dial up modem speed from my youth!  It seems unlikely to be coincidental.

unless it's some power of 2 thing that i haven't fully thought through...

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it just a coincidence?

I learned this and it's good to know since you can reduce part counts knowing that 2 of the 1440 rocket fuel tanks equals 1 orange tank, and two of the 180 fuel tanks equal the 360 tall 1.25m and 360 2.5m sized parts. It allows you to reduce the part count and otherwise redundant parts...

It's a coincidence coming from the power of two thing with tank sizes, and how they got split into fuel/oxidzer circa 0.19.

This. If you sum the fuel and oxidizer, you get 100 units for the smallest 1.25m tank followed by repeated doubling (200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400).

The FL-T100 postdates the FL-T200 ; it used to be that the 1t tank was the smallest. Why does it have 200 units? Dunno, the explanation must predate my playing.

Splitting into LF + O also predates my playing, and I started around 0.13

I think the 400 unit tank is older still, it's a reskinned version of the original tank. Though it might have been 500 units back then, I'm not sure.

It did have 500 units back then, I got my hands on a copy of the 0.13 demo a few months ago.
