B) always have more DV for any margins for errors

and C) you said 8km/s was enough for Jupiter? Why not Mars.

Delta-V figures for RSS are easily available from delta-V maps, there's no need to guesstimate at all. (Spoiler: It's about 4.5km/s from LEO, including a reasonable safety margin.)

True. A ~150% safety margin seems just a little excessive, though.

I'm also not fluent on RSS/RO. You could call me a newb, but one with the grasp of the mechanics but maybe not the details.

You can never have too much DV.
