RO: constantly ascending part after rocket crash

I'm currently giving RO a new go and built my first Sounding Rocket. Unfortunately, as soon as it crashes into the ocean after a wonderful flight the Sounding Rocket "probe core" starts a constant ascend and gets me stuck in-flight without a chance to recover anything. Any leads how I can deal with this issue?
