yes, I know "Nexo" is not the right way to write it, but my keyboard doesn't support the correct letter to write it properly. >:(

Tomorrow, Copenhagen Suborbial will launch their test rocket at 12:00 CEST(unless they have delays, of course).

They expect to arrive in the launch area at 10:00 CEST; You can Watch the launch live here, the livestream will begin at 10:CEST.

CopSub have set up a livestream, it's scheduled to start in about ten minutes.

If you go to youtube, CopSub are currently giving info in the chat. At least two hours to the actual launch.

The auto sequence runs off of a timer. It is set to open after the full flight duration and a good portion of the fall back down. But before that time came, the rocket had already kissed the ocean.

Preliminary thoughts on the failure, pending full investigation:

Too much LOX loaded during fueling --> too little room for gas remaining in the tank --> too low LOX feed pressure --> engine combustion weak and unstable, and eventually flamed out.

(The Nexo rocket uses a load cell to determine the amount of loaded propellant. Basically, the rocket's weight is monitored during the fueling, and the difference between empty weight and current weight is calculated as the amount of fuel loaded. Anyone following their Youtube channel will recall that they've had issues with this in the past, particularly with the load cell being imprecise... go figure. The ocean waves probably didn't help to make the measurement more reliable.)

The parachute didn't deploy because it was hooked up to a sensor for engine chamber pressure, designed to start a timer after flameout. However, because the chamber pressure was too low right from the start, the flight computer declared the sensor as faulty and substituted a pre-saved value, in order to prevent the parachute from deploying during ascent. Basically, a safeguard designed to prevent a certain problem turned around to bite them in the butt.

TL;DR: rocketry is hard :P
