Radial Airlocks

I've been thinking for a while that there should be an airlock part. This new part could be a radial part you can put anywhere on your ship. It would be useful to make ships a little more realistic. It could also be used as a backup airlock in case a solar panel or something is blocking the main one.

Anyways, just a thought! Tell me your thoughts and ideas on the part below.

One solution to this, that was suggested elsewhere, was to make the standard and large sized docking ports also have a hatch.

This was talked about a wee bit ago - I asked the same thing.  And they already sort of exist as an extension of a docking port part.

Too bad @Devo had such a bad experience with someone messing with his mod hosting & stuff... KSP lost a great mod dev when he "stepped" back...

One solution is to use a Mk I lander can and clip it into whatever you want to have an airlock. I use them all the time for that reason. It has a nice hatch the Kerbal can hold onto, and it's relative light weight (660 kg) is just right for such a purpose. You can usually offset the weight with something useful on the opposite side anyway. or mount another "air lock" on the opposite side.

Or you could use a radial attachment point and stick the MK1 crew cabin to it end on.  It's about the only chance you going to get to escape from one of them directly
