Space Station Shakes Itself Apart

Recommended Posts

This is a problem that has been plagueing me since the beginning of KSP time. Whenever I build a space station is ends up shaking itself apart. This particular time All I did was add a mk3 fuesalage with a docking port at both sides. Only 3 parts and a station that was completely stable then shook itself into oblivion. My space stations have no reaction wheels or stability addons. SAS is not enabled (though it makes no difference if it is).

First off you should provide some more info, take a look here for the efficient way to get support.

  • KSP version including Windows, Mac, or Linux, 32 or 64-bit, and if it's Steam
  • A detailed explanation of what happened and what you were trying to accomplish
  • A screenshot of your craft or any relevant screens
  • A .craft file or save files if relevant
  • The ouput_log.txt or player.log file KSP creates when it launches and, if applicable, the crash log KSP has generated when the program crashed
  • A detailed list of system specifications
  • Are you running a clean installation, or have you updated and some of your persistence or craft files might be older versions, if so which version(s)

I have experienced a bug similar to this before. It was a LONG time ago, 1.0 or before, and was termed the "Glue Kraken" and I believe Claw fixed it. Does this happen under time acceleration and/or physics warp?

Quick fix, backup then open your persistent.sfs in a text editor (not wordpad) and do a find and replace on autostrutMode = Off, replace all of them with autostrutMode = Root

And enjoy your non Krakened station.

Is this what will keep the stations from becoming wobbly contraptions?

Do I need to do this only once or after adding additional parts to the station?
