[0.3.0] KSPNameGen: Random Name Generator for KSP

Recommended Posts

[Beta testers needed!]

You, the up-and-coming author of the Forums, are writing the next Great Kerbal Novel. Only problem is, you can't think of any names! Perhaps you turn to your favorite name-generator, only to find that it has died off or does not support female names! The Great Kerbal Novel will be a flop without inventive, non-Jeb names. What a tragedy!

Does this describe you? For you, dear customer, we have the perfect thing: KSPNameGen! With KSPNameGen, generate up to 2^63-1 kerbal names at a time*! Male or female! And, should you wish to write a work in the Kerbae ad Astra storyweb, or simply throw off the oppressive chains of the Kerman surname, generate diverse surnames with the Future option!

KSPNameGen is a joint project between myself [0111narwhalz] and @TotallyNotHuman_. Its only requirement is a piano with a few black keys**.

How to use:
1. Download (below)
2. Extract
3. Run KSPNameGen.exe
4. Specify desired gender, surname type, and name count via the menu.
5. Get back to writing!

KSPNameGen 0.1.1 is live!

Now with hands-free command-line argument support! Generate a dozen names easily by the simple addition of a few letters after the path of your shortcut! Append "-h" to the shortcut target to see what's available.

KSPNameGen 0.1.2 is live!

We've made some optimizations to the code which bring you greatly improved execution time! Have fun generating more names than you could possibly need, without leaving the computer for hours!

We still don't reccommend generating billions of names, however.

KSPNameGen 0.1.3 is live!

The optimization mentioned earlier is now tweakable! Specify a buffer size which works well for your system. Available in non-interactive mode by appending a number to the command line! Default is 48 names per frame.

Now with a much-improved menu-style interface! Navigate the menu with the cursor keys.

Configure the program to your liking during runtime with the new options menu!

Additionally, the program can now write to text files. Specify an accessible file and tick the "Write to File" box in the options menu to enable file output. Note that this is a beta feature, and should be used with caution.

KSPNameGen 0.2.1 is released!

For greater convenience, KSPNameGen now includes a Makefile so you can launch it with a simple kspng command in your terminal! Install by running sudo make install in the KSPNameGen directory.

Note that Makefiles are only available on Unix-like operating systems.

KSPNameGen 0.3.0 is released!

Now with Unix-esque flags! Specify in whatever order you like. If you use multiple of the same flags, note that only the first valid one will be parsed. See the complete list of flags by using the -h or --help flag.

There are already several such tools to generate unique username. Some of them are:

1 Jimpix
2 Best Username Generator
3 Speedy Password (Personal Favourite)
4 SpinXO
5 Screen Name Generator
6 Rum & Monkey

There are other great Random Username Generator websites too but I would suggest you to read more about them before deciding which one would be best for you.

Hope it helps you.

Terribly sorry, but you seem to have misunderstood. This is not a request but an offer.

In addition, please be aware that this is not a username generator, but a generator for Kerbal names, much like how the ingame Astronaut Complex would generate them.

(I was going to reply to you first, but @0111narwhalz beat me to it. icon_ghost.gif)
