Old, OLD explosions revival?

Recommended Posts

I was watching a REALLY OLD KSP video with a big rocket exploding. As usual. Then I saw the glorious smoke plumes (or what ever they are) spewing out of the explosion effectively doubling the explosion. Now i am old enough to remember the old explosions (and sfx), (pre 1.0? IDK, all I knew is that is was 0.23)  which was quite a step down from what I am seeing before me. So what if we could bring back those fuel plumes? (Again, I don't know what they are) now I imagine that it might affect FPS so maybe it could be toggleable?

A picture. (not mines)

Yeah. What we need are part specific explosions rather than generic ones for select parts. Rocket parts need to explode, and explode PROPERLY. Whereas jets should just catch fire and melt (with some explosions).

A lot of parts explode for no reason whatsoever. The explosion merely acts as a distraction as the part despawns.

So for our purposes part 'explosions/fires/puffs of smoke/etc' is merely a point for the part to disappear without looking weird.

Looking at reality- when rockets explode, it's huge. Like entire Kerbal launchpad and some more- huge.
