[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]

Recommended Posts

@Gameslinx  I'm going for another playthrough now that 1.3 seems stable(ish).  I've got a game-breaking bug right away though.  New KSP install from the Store, fresh install of your mod from the zip file, and no other mods except Engineer Redux.  When I start a new game, or even try to open the Settings Menu, the game hangs on the loading screen (black screen, the word Loading in the bottom right and spinny planets icon cheerfully spinning).

Here's my KSP.log which looks to be spamming nullRefs from something called Starlight Switcher

and below is my Kopernicus.log

Edit: looks like Someone is having the same problem with GPP running in Linux

I know what the problem is. I was probably careless again and the capitalisation in planet texture names might be wrong. In the next update i'll fix this again - sorry!

I have a lot on my hands at the moment. Usually i'd patch it within the hour but i'm having some big problems with Instantiator.

Cool no worries.  Let me know if there's anything I can do to help with testing or anything. :)

Scientists have discovered a flight recorder which is not of Kerbal origin. They are unable to decipher its data, which appears to be a readable sound file. The file they recovered from the flight recorder is attached below. The location of its discovery was recorded here:

OirjrmK.jpg

The file they extracted can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w3ghinfpqnvurz9/Veronica-FlightRecorder.wav?dl=0

(Yes, kerbals use Dropbox too)

This is just a cool task to do to discover a small easter egg in the mod whilst I work on the next update. There are a few bugs with scatterer and instantiator which I would like to address before continuing :)

If it hasn't clicked yet, That's volux. The system looks weird because the system is slowly falling apart.

Well done , I didn't expect it to be found so soon!

Coming soon...

I managed to get Scatterer to stop playing up for the moment, so the update is slated for the next few days. It includes some fixes to Volux and Telos's atmospheres, plus Olu'um will be a star :)

Unfortunately I have decided to drop Instantiator (the accretion disk around Olu'um) because the plugin is too buggy and overloads the log file with exception errors.

I might use Sunflares of @JadeOfMaar when it is released :)

"plus Olu'um will be a star :). " Bad news. Make a new star for new planet. Oluum do not change.  There are a lot of interesting planets that you do not have.

Planet Lave, Titanus (New Horizont). System Gauss With Planet (GGP)

Create something else! Just do not change Oluum System.

Come up with new without changing the old

I mean it has always been a sub-star (I meant proper sub-star, not star), I'm just allowing it to emit light.

I can't use the accretion disk because it has a lot of bugs which I seriously hope @Artyomka15 or someone else is able to fix/maintain.

If it does not change gravity, then everything is fine)
And by the way what new planets will be? Lacks purple and yak red atmospheric.

It will keep the same gravity! Just looks better :)

I'm not too keep on adding any more atmospheric planets to the modpack, but would you want Scorch to be more red? (Scorch needs some extra detail anyway, soooo....)

you know, you could integrate the change into the lore saying that olu'um has finally absorbed all of the matter from the accretion disc and begun emitting slightly more light than before. This will also account for the change in radius.

@TheWanderer05 and I were discussing this on the discord before! :)

Scorch is ok. But the planet Vulcan atmosphere needs to add 10-15 km  and very hot.

Hey all! GPO has updated to 2.4.

Before the changelog, I MUST stress that GFI was completely removed from the planets to fix contract progression, however be ready for some crafts to switch around their orbits and whatnot.

IMPORTANT - ALL GFI VALUES HAVE BEEN REMOVED. CRAFTS MAY JUMP AROUND - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

  • Olu'um now emits light

  • Olu'um classed as a T-Dwarf "star"

  • Olu'um radius adjusted to match KSP scale, but proportionally reflects real world dwarf stars

  • Olu'um ACCRETION DISK REMOVED - I didn't want to do this but there are many bugs with Instantiator. Sorry guys

  • Olu'um temperature curve improved. You will overheat at Verdina's periapsis, making it a more dangerous rocky world.

  • Olu'um scatterer configs removed

  • Olu'um sunflare and coronas added

  • Telos colourmap changes, and it is now tidally locked to Olu'um

  • Updated Kopernicus by two versions

  • Added Veronica's Flight Recorder to GameData > Olei. It's an easter egg so get looking!

  • "Removed the Krake--[-]"

I just thought of a way to keep the disc without the log spam.

so the ring works fine on a planet right?

so what you can do is create a "node" moon with a blank texture and give it a SMA of 1 km and apply the ring to the node instead so it will look like the ring is still around olu'um. this is how I did the animated solar surface in my mod.

I thought about this. I could maybe have a moon on the same orbit as Olu'um (meaning hyper editing Olu'um would wreck it)

But your suggestion having a tiny sma around Olu'um....

Make a dummy moon inside Olu'um to host the ring? Bad idea. Just because it's late to the party. Olu'um itself can keep a ring but it would be a plain gas planet style ring. No fancy accretion disk stuff. There are planet packs out there with ringed stars too.

The problem of adding the dummy moon is that it's still adding a celestial body and that will break people's careers. So absolutely not. This mod has done enough of that already.

That is true, I never thought of that.
