How can I get KSP running more faster with mods?

Recommended Posts

Obviously having mods KSP runs slower but. How can I get KSP running faster? First I had a Mac OS X 10.9.5 I just had KSP and that is it. Also the graphics are NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256MB. Whit all this information. How can I get KSP running faster of the easiest way? Put below on comments :)

if you are running low fps it means your computer loads a lot of objects at the moment it could be debris that you never notice and all sorts of stuff that it need to load, try deleting(terminating) debris. Perhaps it is a physical model of a craft, with a lot of mods that make physics realistic game may become laggy.

If it doesnt help try not to launch a lot of programms while running KSP it could be other games, paint, word and other necessary stuff. They drop the frame rate drasticly.(okay not so much but they do)

If nothing of it helps, try  this mod-https://spacedock.info/mod/944/The Janitor's Closet it helps to clean your game.

The other thing that makes game laggy is a lot of part mods visual mods installed. Try using visual mods like LightFixer, scatterer and cloudshine those are cool mods a and they are lightweight

Lots of things can slow a computer down.  "How to make it faster" is going to depend on what the thing is that's bottlenecking you, and then addressing that thing.

Examples of things that can slow down KSP:

  • GPU.  You don't have enough graphical horsepower --> lower your graphics options, or get a better graphics card
  • RAM.  You don't have enough memory --> adjust gameplay to use less memory, or add more RAM to your computer
  • CPU.  Your processor's too wimpy --> adjust gameplay to reduce strain on the physics engine, or wish you had a faster computer.
  • Disk I/O.  It's loading too much stuff off the disk --> consider moving to an SSD instead of a "traditional" hard drive

It's important to realize that the above things are pretty much orthogonal to each other, so if your problem is mainly due to one of these, then addressing the others won't help you.  For example, if your real problem is that you've got a wimpy graphics card and it can't keep up with the graphical demands of the game, then adding more RAM won't help you.  If your problem is that your mods are making the game suck up lots of RAM and it's bogging down because it's swapping out to disk all the time, then getting a better graphics card won't help you.  And so forth.

So... what exactly is the slow thing that you're trying to fix?  When you say "it gets slower", it gets slower how, exactly, and under what circumstances?  Slow to load the game and get to the start menu?  Slow FPS when the camera is looking at something pretty versus when it's looking at the backdrop of space?  Slow FPS when you have ships with lots of parts in them?  General slowdown when you see in the task manager that the game's RAM usage happens to be really high?  Something else?
