Sorta evil Challenge!

Recommended Posts

OK... So here's my evil idea... Make a plane that can go from Jool orbit, down into the atmosphere, all the way to 1000 meters or less. Then go back up again, all the way into orbit. I mean, I know I couldn't do this!

Good look, and better take Jeb!

Normally it is custom that the person setting a challenge shows their attempt and the craft they tried it in. Also you have not stated the rules of your challenge, are mods allowed for example? Is there a time limit? How will entries be scored? and so on. Pictures help too.

Have a look here then maybe edit your post?

I'm not even sure this is possible in vanilla. Jool doesn't have oxygen, and I don't think the pressure at 1km would allow rockets to have any appreciable thrust. Heck, Kerbals almost float at that altitude.

It's possible, just not in a conventional way.

OK, I sent the challenge to one of my friends (Revised version) and it is possible. He is much better cos he's been playing since 0.90 while I've been playing since 1.1.3... Didn't send pics though sorry.

Anyway, here are the new rules! Now possiblized!

Mods are allowed , go crazy!  To start it doesn't have to get into Jool orbit by itself, use hyperedit. It only has to go down to 10km or less. To build a SSTO for this purpose you should probably use B9 HX fuselage and the big heavy wings. (The one that did it had six, three per side.) No time limit, and to submit just send five or more pics at different altitudes. If you have a better method please use it! I tried to do it, but my craft just went into flat spin at around 150km, but I'm more of a rocket person.
