For Pointless Calculations

17 posts in this topic

So I was browsing the interweb today, and I came across a picture I've seen in the past.

instructions,medicine,funny,wtf,fail nation

So how many pills should be taken? If I understand correctly...

Not only should you only eat once per day, at night, take one set of four doses, but for every dose you consume an additional three doses, but every 3rd dose per day you take one dose, which is two doses, but for those two doses, you take three doses each, with an optional dose of either one or two tablets.

So that means.... Math..... 4+(3x4)+[(1x2)+(2x3)]+1 OR +2, which equals... Either 21 or 22 pills per day. Thoughts?

Also, you can do whatever pointless calculations you want in this thread, free of charge.

Agreed, but it clearly says to follow the printed directions.

I hadn't noticed that. This is priceless :D

If at all, it would be that, I'm terrible at mathses.

Yeah but the person should talk to his doctor about the instructions

The picture is years old at this point, I've seen it a few times before.

Whoever wrote that label may have had a few too many pills (or not enough? No one will ever know now...)

Do my calculations appear correct, though?

Hawaii: 10430km^2
Basalt:  3g/cm^3
Depth:  1km
LEO: ~9km/s
Hydrolox: 3816m/s
Water: 237.13kJ/mol
(I'm sure you can tell where this is going already...)

Volume of the payload: 10430km^3
Mass of the payload: 10430km^3 * 3g/cm^3 * 100^3m^3/cm^3 * 1000^3km^3/m^3 = 31290E+15g
Mass of propellant: 9km/s = 3816m/s ln((31290E+15g + x)/(31290E+15g))
(9km/s)/(3816m/s) = ln((31290E+15g + x)/(31290E+15g))
e^((9km/s)/(3816m/s)) = (31290E+15g + x)/(31290E+15g)
31290E+15g + x = e^((9km/s)/(3816m/s))*(31290E+15g)
x =  e^((9km/s)/(3816m/s))*(31290E+15g) - 31290E+15g
x = 2.99601035640356929287E+20g
Energy needed to electrolyze x of water: 237.13kJ/mol * 1mol/18g * x = 3.946910754522102146778092E+24J
or
3.9469YJ
or
3.946910754522102146778092E+24J = y*(299792458m/s)^2
y = 43915304g or 43.9 T
or (using 2013 total global output)
7251564908s = 229 years

None.  They're nearly six years out of date.

Or a mathematician.

Or maybe that's what happened. The costumer came in with a doctor's note for a custom prescription... The pharmacist tried to read it and write down the little that could be understood. :D

I'm still trying to figure out what kind of screw up could have caused this... One would think that there were several "entries" in the "database" for the text, and they got all printed one after the other... but then "every three times" doesn't fit anywhere.
