How to turn off autostrut?

Recommended Posts

I can't turn off autostrut and it keeps annoying me because I made a trebuchet with infernal robotics and Kerbal Attachment System. Please help! Struts keep appearing to hold the arm from moving.

Normally all you have to do is set it to "disabled" in the right-click menu (this can be done in flight or in the VAB/SPH). It might require Advanced Tweakables to be active in the settings menu, I don't remember.

However, anything with wheels on it has forced autostruts which can't be disabled; I believe this is a workaround for a bug with the Unity wheel system KSP uses currently.

As far as I know this is correct.

The obvious solution is pretty cliché: don't use wheels or legs. But I'll assume this is not a real option for you.
A possible work-around could be to trick the autostruts to connect to a non moving part. Put the root and/or something heavy in the static portion of your contraption and do not use any wheels or legs in the moving part.
