1000 km/and back speed run!

Recommended Posts

Hello kerbonauts! Here is a challenge that I made. Its called the THE 1000 km AND BACK SPEEDRUN CHALLENGE.  Basically you have to go up to the area just above 999,999 meters (1,000km to 1,010 km) and return home as fast as you can.

Rules:

No cheating, like no hyperedit, or from the Alt-F12 menu.

No mods, other than EVE type mods, or Kerbal engineer.

The version has to be above 1.0, so you probably want to have a heat shield...

The minimum height is 1000 km, the maximum height is 1,010 km.

Everything else:

You don't have to have a screen shot. Your vessel can be manned or unmanned. Your final vessel has to land intact with crew (if you have any) alive. Your time ends when your vessel lands on kerbin. Your time also includes your apogee. Finally, HAVE FUN!

My entry from 1002 km: 26:42

Are we allowed to use the cheat menu to get up there?

Also the Semi-major axis for this altitude is: 1600000m or 1600km

If we are allowed to use the cheat menu, here is my craft to do it.

Craft file here

The chute is set to 100m. Once put into orbit burn retrograde until orbit line is straight down.

Then burn surface radial-in until out of fuel.

Decouple, arm chute and point retrograde.

1000km: 10:11

Proof: No command modules were destroyed. In the mission report

There is no 'if' as it is a flat out 'no' to using the cheat menu ... Citation below:

http://ricokoster.imgur.com/all/  this is my imgur account , i had to recreate the rocket because i didn't save it last time :(, this time it came in around 10 minutes and 40 seconds. the last stage (the one with 4 vector engines) is used at the 1000KM mark, you burn straight down, and then you wait. mods used were kerbal engineer. hyperedit was installed but not used.
