Good space race movies/TV shows?

Hello,

I'd like to know your favourite space movies from the space race era. I've seen the Apollo 13, The right stuff, HBO's From the Earth to the Moon and BBC's Space race several times now, but I'm sure there are some good ones I still haven't seen. Could you share the ones you like the best?

Marooned is possibly worth seeing.  It's Apollo 13, except with Skylab, but made before Apollo 13.

I figured that anyone on this forum that's at all familiar with the space race wouldn't need that information.

Of course, it doesn't hurt to clarify it, so thank you.

 

I did find it interesting seeing how Skylab-like the station was in the years when the lunar landings were still ongoing.  It really helped to drive home the idea that the programs were not a strict sequence, but were actually running parallel to each other.

A bit hard to find, but maybe 1967's Countdown, starring James Caan?  It was based on the Pilgrim Project, a proposed (but never seriously considered) last-ditch plan to put a man on the Moon if it looked like the Soviets would beat us there.  The plan was essentially to launch him to the Moon in a modified Mercury capsule, and then to send him supplies roughly 22 times a year until a method was devised to bring him back.

EDIT: I seem to recall that the movie used a modified Gemini capsule.
