Kerbals in VAB and SPH

My game runs fine when i'm building but when the kerbals walking around get in my fov it seems to lag quite a bit. Is there anyway to remove/lower the amount of kerbals with mods or settings?

Yer theres a setting to turn off 'ground crew' somewhere in the settings options.

This. It's on the very first page of settings, top-left side, either first or second option. You can turn the little clones off.

The option you are looking for is named "Show Space Center Crew".
