How can I make a mod? (what is the best mod maker for mac)

I've dabbled in part creation, but I've never made something and got it correctly in game. Regardless, I can certainly suggest some tools to use.

First, you'll need a 3D modelling program. For Mac, Blender is good. It's free and simple to use, and there's plenty of tutorials online. Of course, you can look into other programs, but that's one that is used by quite a lot of people on the forums.
Next, you'll need something to make textures with. Some of my friends go on and on about Photoshop, but that costs money, and I don't want to spend money. Therefore, if you want something free, check out GIMP. It's like Photoshop, but free, is how I'd describe it. :)
Finally, you're going to need Unity. It's free, so that's good. You'll also need the KSP PartTools which can be found here (I think those are the latest ones).

There's plenty of tutorials online for making parts, or 3D models, or textures, so you'll have plenty of help. :)

While i have little experience with Mac, I'd second Blender is probably your best choice for the 3D aspect. You'll need something for textures, I'd expect GIMP has a Mac version if you don't have Photochop or something already. You'll need Unity to get them in game. You have to register on the website but it's free, at least for the purpose of simple mods.
