Mission Idea: Emulating Real Life in Kerbal Space Program [WIP] [Submit a Payload] [Become a Launch Provider] Craft Submission Thread!

Recommended Posts

Copper 1 is unofficially complete! Unofficial because I need to post the craft file and pics

Payload to LKO: 1 ton

Customer cost: 27,000

Height: 20m

Description: low tech and price launch vehicle with a reusable first stage and a second stage that can be used as a service module for its payload. Also can be launched without a payload and rendezvous with something to bring it further.

Link: https://kerbalx.com/53miner53/Copper-1

also, I would like to schedule a demo launch with a demo payload I will supply. Launch to 100km and 0° inclination. Do not detach the second stage from the payload.

Edit: I should probably say that the demo payload should not be disconnected from the second stage.

Uhh that Copper 1 costs 7,000 more than mine and I can lift 3 times as much.

I want  the Service Module.

If you take a look at my payloads, none of them are more than 1 ton. If I need moar boosters, I'll contact you.

I also only need 100 km orbits FOR my payload, making the extra D-V a waste 4 you.

Yes but his is more expensive than mine. If you want cheep light lifting, look at @Mad Rocket Scientist's lifter. He can do 4 funds per kilogram

I have (another) announcement! I will "rent" out my modules so anyone who would like to make their own, relay, for example can use my modules! I will rent them out at 2500:funds: per module on the RoveSystem and Mod-Sat modules, 1000:funds: for the ProbeCore premade probe cores, and I will NOT "rent" the Relay-Sat series, but for any module(s) you would like to "rent" PM me. I am currently working on both the RoveSystem and the Mod-Sat series.I will still sell MY premade combos at a cheaper price.

Well, I can do 3 funds/kg with Retrance ll2.

I have decided that whoever convinces me in a PM to use their LP service I will use. NO BRIBING!!! Bribes will be discarded, that doesn't mean DISCOUNTS!!! Or, I will just go with whomever best suits me.

I think I can lift your sats in two launches as my Retrance ll2 can lift 1.9~2t to LKO in 6000 funds. With the light payloada it'll have some dv on LKO, so I can taxi them around.

This looks great!

I wish to be a launch and payload provider please.

I have created my first rocket,

Trinity

cWRKCwd.png

Pure cost of rocket: :funds:9200

Payload to LKOA whopping 4.5 tons! (though for safety's sake and to allow a delta V margin, it shall be restricted to 4 tons)

Payload to KTO: 2.5 tons

Launch cost: :funds:15,500 (only 3.8 funds per kg!)

1DQSGgm.png

Its four thud engines, and some of its upper stage fuel tanks, bulge slightly out over 1.25m in width, but i do hope it isn't a huge problem.

Unfortunately i do not have mechjeb, so i have provided simple flight directions:

Spoiler

With more than 3 tons:

1-pitch to 10 degrees at 70m/s

2-get the prograde vector to the 45 degree mark by 11,000m

3-after this, keep the rocket pointed at between 35 and 40 degrees

4-once the apoapsis reaches 70km, point the rocket along the horizon

5-once orbital velocity is almost reached, circularize as normal

With less than 3 tons:

Everything is the same except for step 3, where you want the rocket pointed at about 30 degrees instead

@TheEpicSquared, I wish to test this rocket with a dummy Zephyr payload at the earliest opportunity please

Download (with dummy 4.5 ton payload that should be replaced with a payload):

https://www.dropbox.com/s/zyhlq32w5ctu12i/Trinity booster.craft?dl=0

=====================================================================================================

Now for the payload section, i have two for whoever wants one.

First one is special:

F0NTOyO.png

The Zephyr, a 3.4 ton 2 crew vehicle for quick excursions to LKO and back.

Comes with about 1 extra of everything (i'm not sure how brutal Dangit is)

Pad abort test: Successful

Spoiler

SdgK3rG.png

Mid-Flight abort test: Successful

Spoiler

prWWSvZ.png

foREPvO.png

@TheEpicSquared do i need to perform these tests in the real save, or is this evidence enough?

Also, requesting an uncrewed launch of the vehicle to a roughly equatorial 75x75km orbit, with a subsequent deorbiting near the KSC

@Skylon, in Kerbalism do mk1 passenger pods come with any built in life support functionality, or do i need to get the mod and add some modded parts to it? This module only needs to be habitable for a day or so at maximum

since this is an uncrewed launch, draining 80% of the RCS and removing the LES are acceptable ways to make the payload lighter.

Rocket brand and prices shall be negotiated between me and the lowest bidder

Alternatively, we have 10 ultralight OxBoxSat probes (weighing only 83 kilograms each) that need to be launched into an equatorial (0 degree inclination) 100x100 km orbit. By measuring radio distances between the probes overtime, we can determine exact measurements of the tidal forces between Kerbin and the Mun, as well as any other fluctuations in Kerbin's gravitational field.

Spoiler

ICMM-XYYZZY aerospace presents, an actual design for:

The Leviathan

https://kerbalx.com/Blacksilver/Leviathan

HQl2dpq.jpg

Cost: 150,000 Kerbucks

Spoiler

Rocket cost: 123,754

Recoverable parts on pad: -7000

Subtotal: 123,054

Markup: +10%

Total: 150,000 KB

Yes, it's expensive. Spaceflight is expensive, okay? If you want to take Kerbals to a station in LKO, this is the only way to do it.

Don't panic! We plan to be able to recover the first stage (at some point) to make the whole thing cheaper.

Development cost: 618, 620 Kerbucks

Sadly, we don't have enough money to develop it.

So! We need a loan from the Kerbal bank. 200,000 KB should do it.

@TheEpicSquared

ALSO: Is the Steve pad abort scheduled?

ALSO, ALSO: How much will Civilian Kerbals pay for a quick jaunt to a Sub-orbital trajectory in, say, a Mk2 Crew cabin? What about a mk3 cabin?

@quasarrgames, I could take all those OxBoxSats to LKO in one launch using Copper 1, and use the launcher's built in RCS to maneuver them to the desired spacing, and release one at a time.

Sounds fine. This is a pretty expensive payload, so you'll be making a good amount of money anyways. is a total cost of :funds:50,000 sufficient?

Yes we have a deal. Good luck launching!

also, @TheEpicSquared@Skylon, are we not allowed reaction wheels at all? not even on payloads as long as they're deactivated during launch?

Also, you know what could make this twice as fun? Doing it in real solar system!

Anyone want to explain what this is?

the only way to not have me explain it to you is to have you read the op

you really want me to tell you?

okay fine...

basically there are two people, one side is people like Boeing and SpaceX, where they try to get launch contracts from the Payload providers, these people are known as Launch Providers, or LPs

then we have people like if-I-knew-one-right-now-I-would-tell-you-but-I-don't-wait-a-second-i'm-on-a-computer. but basically they make satellites and give contracts to the LPs to launch the satellites to the orbits like that

if you want to know more, go to the other thread, this one is only to submit the rockets and satellites

here's the thread:

I can launch them cheaper for 18,000 (I lowered the price) and do lots of orbital manoeuvring.

Oh damn, I've got some competition! :)

As for the Zephyr crew module, you might want to add some more life support. I'm not going to be changing anything once you give me your craft, so any failures are all on you (unless it was a bug, etc). :)
