Monolith Discovery

I am standing at the base of the monolith outside the KSC.  Is there something special about it?  Do I need to do something special in order to collect any bonus's from it?

As far as I know, the KSC monolith is an anomaly only with visual effect. (I don't recall if it had collision mesh or not)

I heard that discovering green monoliths grants some science points. Those will be only ones with actual impact on gameplay.

Collision mesh?  Could you define that please?

It means if an object has a collider box, KSC buildings have - you cant drive through with a rover.

Rocks on Mun doesnt - you can drive through.

It used to be true that the monoliths were like ghosts. You could just drive/walk/fly right through them. It's not true anymore. All the monoliths are solid and you can crash into them.

The KSC monolith doesn't grant any bonuses. All the rest of them around Kerbin grant you a little money -- except for the green one, as Abastro says, which will randomly unlock a tech node in R&D for you. All you have to do is get close to them (maybe a kilometer away?) to get the bonus.
