Lander staging questions

I'm trying to build a command pod/lander deal,and I cannot get it to uncouple in orbit the farings pop off , but the top plate stays in place even if I put a decoupler on it... thank you in advance

you may have it attached to an interstage node instead of the decoupler

I assume you mean it's an interstage fairing that you have -- and all the interstage nodes are remaining in place, and you don't want them to?

 

Interstage fairings disappear from the top down when every last piece gets decoupled from each node. If your decoupler is staying attached to the node, the node will not disappear. So you may need to turn your decoupler upside down to make it work right.
