Hey lads,

Well, I've been playing this game for quite some time and I love it, especially ever since I 'discovered' my love for (space) planes. However, recently I've ran into an issue that never really bugged my before (but it got worse) since I'm using some bigger vessels.

My game lags like hell, a takeoff from KSC with a 131 parts spaceplane with about 20-24 FPS once it reaches 400m/s. The issue gets worse with my larger planes (200-ish parts) where my FPS drops to 10-15.

I honestly don't think my Laptop is the issue, below the specs:

Spoiler

Lenovo IdeaPad Y700-15ISK

Resolution: 1920 x 1080
RAM Size: 16 GB DDR4 (2 x 8GB) @ 2133 MHz
Processor: Quad Core Intel Core i7-6700HQ (8 CPUs) @ 2600 Hz
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (GDDR5 4 GB of memory)
Total Storage: 128 GB SSD & 1 TB HDD (5400RPM)

Mods that I've installed, but it also happened before I went on modding as far as I remember

Spoiler

OPM - adds planet(s)
SentarExpansion - adds planet(s)
Arkas - adds planet(s)
Asclepius - adds planet(s)
ChaniPack - adds planet(s)
CTTP - OPM textures or something
DarkMultiPlayer - Multiplayer client, the problem happens in both MP and SP.
Jungis - adds planet(s)
Kopernicus  - required for my other planet mods
Kronkus - Adds planets
MechJeb2 - Flight info etc, well known as far as I know
ModularFlightIntegrator - Part of MechJeb2
Odysseus - adds planet(s)
Module Manager - For my planets and Kopernicus

Yes all mods are up-to-date, downloaded them this week.

Yes my game is up-to-date.

Yes I'm using the 64 bit 'version' of the game (KSP_x64.exe)

Any help or ideas? Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Robin

Have you tried running the game without the planet packs? If you try with out the packs, and this issue goes away, add each pack back one by one and test with each new planet pack.

Hey fellow dutchie, alles goed? :)

The thing with KSP is that it barely does use GPU, mostly CPU and when modded RAM.
I see you've a i7 6700. The thing with i7 is that is 8 cores, which is not the best for gaming. Most games are focust on a few cores and so is KSP. Only a few games are optimized to use all cores.
That said. you've only 2,6ghz, which can be a problem when modded and/or using a lot of parts.

I suggest to reduce your partcount as much as possible.
I recently advised another forum guy in this tread:

A very simple solution for this, is to weld parts together by using this mod.:

Eh look another Dutchman!

My part count doesn't go too high (133 with my most common used spaceplane) and yet the FPS drops.

The welding mod sounds cool, but only for high part count which isn't the issue.

So, the game simply isn't optimized for multi-core CPUs, oh well...

Still open for suggestions or fixes, might move the game to my C (SSD) drive soon maybe, no clue yet.
