NO Plug in the Wall, NO KSP?

Recommended Posts

It seems that every time I unplug my Laptop I can not play KSP, is this intended, did Squad design the game not to be played without a connection of some kind? Maybe I am ignorant about something here but it's no fun not being able to play KSP without my Laptop being plugged in the wall. A thunderstorm is passing so I unplugged from the wall and a few seconds later FREEZE FRAME! Not once not twice but every time I've tried this in every Version. Is this happening just to me?

I think it might be a power setting of your laptop. Excuse my limited english, but it is possible your laptop goes into some more conservative mode when you unplug it. You can change that in the power settings, or energy consumption or whatever it is called. That, plus prioritize KSP for all your processes.

EDIT, the 5th Horseman of the Kerbalypse ninja'd me.

Sounds like your laptop is going into some sort of power save mode.

Aaah! this would explain it! Ok this would be a good case of ignorance  I will have to agree with this.

Thank you for the Laptop Gaming 101 lesson here! :)

Moving to Technical Support.

Glad you got it sorted out!  :)

Note that running 3D games such as KSP uses the computer's graphics card, which can be power-intensive (which is why high-end graphics cards for PCs need to have their own dedicated cooling fans).  That kind of power-guzzling could rapidly drain a battery, which is why it's unsurprising that a mobile device may be set up to "dumb down" its graphics when it doesn't have an AC power supply.
