Shadow curtain, discontinuities in shadows, KSC and when approaching ground

Recommended Posts

This is my first post, so first of all let me thank you for this great game, my whole family can play. I've bought recently new rig with GTX 1070 and (re-)started playing KSP. I enjoy it very much, but there is one particular rendering bug, that is really annoying - fog/shadow curtain and shadow discontinuities. I have reported it under #15193. But I want to ask you guys if this is well know bug, and if there is anything I can do to mitigate it. I think I tried everything I could find, -force-d3d11 -force-glcore, various shadow cascades settings, Unity rendering settings, all I get is what you see below. Thoughts?

I believe this is a known problem and is being addressed in the next major release:

It's mentioned in the second paragraph. (I swore I saw before/after image comparisons posted someplace...)

EDIT - Ah, found it. It's in a post later in the thread:

Anyway, as far as I know, it's something inherent to the rendering within KSP itself; so no, you can't do much other than turning off shadows (don't recall if you can even do that in KSP...) You have to live with it for now until the next update gets released.

Yes I can confirm the issue has been fixed, now the question is how safe is to play on pre-release, and if my saves will survive prelease if stable will be released.

I've been playing it for a while and only bad thing is when I wanted to go back because of KER and MJ
