Crashing During Loading

Recommended Posts

Anyone able to give me a hand with this?  I'd been playing just fine until a few minutes ago. I hadn't changed my mod list in the slightest since loading last and this newest, now-crashing attempt.

Here's the Output_Log file of the problems.

Anyone able to give me some direction and help here to figure this out?

Sums up you r log completely, the excerpt you have posted contains nothing relevant. Q is this a steam of KSP store bought game? If steam has it updated to 1.3, if it has and you use mods , your game is broken.Very few mods are 1.3 ready and running 1.3 with incompatible mods will indeed cause crashing.

This is why you ALWAYS keep a back-up copy of KSP. Even if you bought it on Steam, you can copy it out of the Steam folder and into another, I keep mine in the "Documents" folder. There you can play the older version until you either get your favorite mods updated, or until the underworld freezes over...

I see... Well apparently, without me knowing, it had updated to 1.3... Never mind then, I suppose...

Great tip, I will do this in the future!

You're welcome. Always glad to help new players get the most out of the game. :D

Now I need to go on Steam and figure out a way to get v1.2.2 so I can continue playing with my mods.

I found a reddit thread that describes how to do it, I am going to try it when I get home (d*mn work interferes with fun stuff).

Thx

if it works let us know, all the reddit posts i found about doing that are out of date and refer to old versions of steam :(:)

Someone just told me this, cannot verify if it works though (as I said, I am at work).

It's fairly easy to revert using Steam:

  • In Steam games list, Right click on Kerbal and select "Properties"
  • Go to the "Betas" tab
  • Click the dropdown menu saying "None - Opt out of all Betas" - you'll see a list of previous versions (1.2.2, 1.1.3 and 1.0.5)
  • Choose whatever you like
  • Profit

Couple of suggestions based on what I learned many muns ago.....

Always leave Steam as a clean untouched version. Copy the latest Steam version to another drive or folder and use that for your day to day play. Mod it, do whatever. Leave Steam as pristine so that way you won't ever get bitten by the updates. In addition, when new version come out, you can then play around with the Steam version to see what's new without damaging your daily live copy.

And, get something like Crashplan. I use it to backup all of my KSP stuff. It backs up to another driver/folder. I have the SAVES folder backing up every 5 minutes (if needed) and then the KSP folders (Steam and any I play) once a day. You can set the parameters however you like and you can control how many versions of a file Crashplan will keep. It has saved my butt countless times when I trashed a save or accidently loaded a mod that was missing a part and wiped out countless ships in flight when the save loaded.

With this type of scenario, I literaly have about 2 dozen KSP folders of all the past version. When I'm done with one, I just Zip it up and let it sit. Never know when I need something from an old install (shipwise).   :)
