Satellite contract wont work

Recommended Posts

The ascending/descending nodes tags show the difference in inclination between your orbit and the target orbit. Here you have "ascending node: 180°" this means that your orbit is inclined 180° relative to the target orbit. In other words, you are orbiting in the wrong direction.

In the map view, you should be able to see shadings on the target orbit line moving around: these show the direction of the target orbit, pay attention to these when launching to avoid this common mistake.

Depends how much delta-V you have. The cheapest option is a bielliptic transfer; at periapsis, burn until apoapsis is nearly at the SOI edge. At apoapsis, flip your orbit, then burn back down at periapsis. The slower you go, the easier it is to change direction, and for large plane changes (of > about 85°), it's cheaper to push apoapsis to near escape velocity and back again than try to make your plane change immediately.

Alternately, if you feel like you went to a lot of work to get it right, and it seems a little unfair -- you can use the debug menu to complete the contract, and get paid, and then promise yourself not to do it again.

The promise to not doing it again is unnecessary.  If one think the debug menu can "fix"  an unfair situation just carry on.

@modybird to reverse orbit you will need twice the orbital velocity. It's a lot simpler than start over,  if you have enough fuel.
