Fascinating mission to include in the DLC: Save Salyut 7

But ... the way damage and repairing of parts is not a large part of the game, it could end up less fascinating than real life.

Imagine some day in the (far) future, able to move IVA and replace components.

Edit: Whoa ... major typo in the topic title.

It doesn't really fit with KSP as it is now, since most of the work was indeed internal, it'd be hard to fit in with the game as it is now. It could make for a killer VR game, though: "Repair the Salyut!"

The closest I can think of would be a scenario, requiring KIS/KAS, to find a part that was disabling the rest of the station.

In the end, however, thanks for the video; I hadn't previously watched anything nearly so detailed about Salyut 7, the most I knew about it was that there was a conspiracy theory regarding whether the US could have tried* to capture Salyut 7.

*Short answer: no, at least not without multiple missions and the Soviets noticing.

I actually watched that Roscosmos documentary about the (Fictional) American plot to capture Salyut 7 with a Shuttle. It was a bunch of nonsense. And what's scary about it is that it was produced by Roscosmos' own official film department, and there was not one mention of it being a mockumentary - everyone regarded it as a real, factual documentary.

Capture a space station? Use a battery powered drill and drill some holes, use 20 M12 bolts & nuts and mount a big heatshield on one side, big chute on the other.

Oh wait ... that's what we would in KSP.

Really? Some aspiring young engineer may want an upscaled version of this thingy.
