Perpetual motion?

Recommended Posts

For anyone interested: It works because the scanner part will not collide with a part joined to the same craft as itself, but it will collide with parts not attached to the same craft. So, we separate the beams and attached wheels after launch (2 key) and the scanner will then happily collide with the beam and provide some push.

Once the stored charge runs down it is unsteerable but it's kinda fun to set it off and see where it takes itself.

Any ideas on improving it so it works better?

Yep, what @MiffedStarfish said.  Throw it in a cage then attach and offset some homemade wheels (probably easier to say then do.  Lemme know if you want a copy of this).

Make sure your wheels slip a little because you get 100% torque instantly from the scanner.  And if you're trying to turn a high-mass or high-resistance wheel you may get BOOM.

@Rath and @Jett_Quasar have messed around with scanners some.

Slightly off topic, but I play 1.2.2 and K-drives still work. However, instead of legs pushing against the ship, you need to have legs push against a ship that pushes against your ship.

If this is patched, I am staying in 1.2.2. I need them for... storyline reasons.
