@maja, you can find a version that should fix your problem here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/n936hgqhvjpypu7/KerbalEngineer-1.1.2.2p.zip?dl=0

It may also fix the occasional crashes when switching to target, or it may not...

Yep, error is gone. Nice and quick work :)

Also I tested @Rantanplan1986's issue with a skycrane, because I have that mod. Accessibility of deltaV readouts for a skycrane depends on the order in which fuel tanks are added. Fuel tanks must be added after the skycrane for proper calculation of the deltaV. If the fuel tank is added first and the skycrane second, then KER shows that stage with 0 deltaV (in all stages). It's the same regardless if the root is the probe, the fuel tank or the skycrane.

I don't have that mod and it may take me a couple of days to get around to installing it.  In VAB screenshots, you should always click the "All Stages" button in the build engineer.  This will cause the window to also show those stages that have 0 deltaV and this can be a great help to work out what is happening.  Those logs are unlikely to show anything useful for deltaV calculation issues.  To make the logs useful you need to click the Settings button and then click the "Verbose Simulation Log" button.  This will cause the deltaV calculation code to dump a lot of information about the vessel and how the calculations were done into the log.  Do this in each of the situations you want to show and then upload the output_log.txt file from the KSP_x64_Data folder (not either of those other logs).

Do you know what happens if either the fuel tank or the parachute (assuming it lets you) is the root?

One other thing you could try is after setting a different part to be root, detach all the fuel tanks from the new root part and then reattach them.  This may reset some of the fuel flow system (this used to be required when rerooting in earlier versions and I'm not sure if it was fixed in 1.2 so giving it a try can't hurt).

One other thing, you have a large amount of mods installed.  Are you sure that they have all been updated to work with KSP 1.2?  Even a single plugin not specifically built for 1.2 can cause problems for other mods and/or the stock game code.

Ok, second try. Screenshots here (this time i also put descriptions) and the Output Log File.

All my mod were released for 1.2. Nevertheless. some of the are the first iteration or are simply recompiled to work with 1.2 and surely have their own quirks and bugs. One of it might even be the root cause for this, but you ask to report any flawed behavior of KER, so i did. :)

Thanks for that.  From a first quick scan it looks like the code is failing to find the fuel tank to assign the "drain rate" to in some of the cases for some reason.  I'll take a closer look later today and see if I can work out why...

Hi there,

its me again and i found something unusual again, this time in flight. :D

This time its the TWR display in the "Vessel" tab while in flight.

I took a few Screenshots.

In summary: first i noticed that the TRW-Display in the "Vessel"-tab showed 0/450(-ish), from a running science-mode game craft (which it had not tested by a short burn), counting down fast, so took some screenshots (the first 4 pictures).

I started a new sandbox game and build 2 testcraft where are the rest of the pictures are from. First i thought the tremendous amout of TRW was a glitch from switching to and back from Trackingstation but as it turs out it wasn't, but some other weirdness happens.

TRW in the display was rising slowly without using any resources to make the craft any lighter.

Let me know if i can provide any additional logs or files (while its the display while in flight i'm not sure if any log contains some useful information)

That TWR readout uses local gravity.  You are currently a very long way from a body with not much gravity so your weight (the force acting on the vessel due to gravity) is very low and your TWR is very high.  As you get further away your weight decreases and the TWR increases.  The TWR (Surface) readout is showing what your TWR would be on the surface of the body you are orbiting (or, in your case, flying by).  The Acceleration readout is usually more useful in orbit (being basically the thrust-to-mass ratio rather than weight), in this case reading 6.18m/s^2, which is 3.79 Mun surface TWR or 0.63 Kerbin surface TWR.

:0.0: Has that always been like that? i have to admit i barely paid attention to that much before (unless i was ascending) until now, where i read all the numbers extra careful to maybe find any flaws :D

But its good to know that its working as intended.

That is the way KER worked when I used it in 1.1.3 and earlier.

if I'm in orbit, TWR is not terribly useful, but acceleration sure is.(Surface TWR is pretty useful as well, just remember that it is using the current atmospheric density, not the surface atmospheric density)

Thanks for the beta version! Tried it last night and it works for what I need it for at the time (Delta V and orbit info). I PayPaled some coffee money to you guys. Thanks for making KSP even more enjoyable. I didnt realize how much I appreciated this mod until I went to KSP 1.2 and didnt have KER!

Been that way for as long as I can remember.

Just looking for a bit of clarity - I've looked back at the front page, and the past 3 pages here at the end.  Who is the author that will be doing the "official" build and release - is it Cybutek (based on front page) or is it Padishar (based on the tone of posts here at the end)?  And I've seen mention of a 1.2 update, will that be announced on the front page as well as buried at the end of the thread?

I'm not sure what you mean by "the tone of posts here at the end".  Cybutek is still the official maintainer.  He did the work required to make KER basically functional and announced how this version can be downloaded directly from GitHub for people that are desperate for a version for KSP 1.2.  I have since made various other changes to fix a couple of issues in the deltaV calculations (still more work to do for full KSP 1.2 support), fix a couple of other little bugs and to reduce the garbage generated (still lots of work to do here) and have released a test build of my pull request branch (currently version 1.1.2.2p) so that people can test it.  There will be an official release compatible with KSP 1.2 at some point and that will be announced in the first post and at the end.

By tone, I meant that people are deferential to the work you are doing, the way they would address questions to a maintainer/author.  Nothing bad, just respect (which is nice, versus the usual demands some people post)  and type of questions (very specific bugs). Thanks for the clarification!

Ahh, I see, you're welcome.  I've been involved in the development of KER, making significant contributions to the code (mostly in the area of the deltaV calculations) and providing support in this thread, since around March 2014 so the regulars here are well aware of my "qualifications" for making the posts I do and (almost always) treat my posts with respect.

I don't know if it's ever been asked, but if it is my excuse is not reading 136 pages :P

But could KER main panel be made "inverse" with the panels. Normally the panels appear at the bottom of the control bar, but could you make a checkbox so that they appear above the control bar, like in the mockup screenshot. Then the control bar can stay there while i disable panels to get better view.

It's actually been refreshing to go "old school" and hand - calculate TWR and minimum dV (starting with a full tank, anyways!).  Really missing the orbital period functions though - Makes it difficult to build a full coverage commnet without accurate orbits!  And I can't develop my Duna infrastructure without more accurate dV numbers. :)

Thanks for all your work Cybutek and Padishar!

Getting game crashes when trying to "Switch to Target", reproducible, if a bit unpredictable.

Yes, this was reported back during the pre-release:

I have looked into this a little since then and have found a couple of things about how it works that look a bit dodgy so there will be another test version with a possible fix soon (I still haven't been able to reproduce the crash so won't be able to tell if the fixes work)...
