Not sure if this will help, but from some testing, it appears that the TWR in atmosphere/VAB are what is screwed up. Once in space the TWR is reported correctly. You can even see this on the pad if you rightclick a running engine you'll find that it's only getting about %55 twr at sea level. No doubt something to do with the new atmospherics?

So, between the bad isp and lower TWR I guess atomics aren't great for atmospheric use at all.

Not to detract from the topic, but what atmosphere/environment mod are you using, Surefoot? I had a mod back in 0.25 that gave Kerbin a blue tint, but I haven't been able to track it back down again.

hmm tried to use the new mod and

nothing, downloaded and placed in the KPS and

well I don't have any of the engines? It has been a while since I added any mods to KPS is it still the same procedure.

place the file in the gamedata file and it should work ? or am I missing a step ?

What "new mod"? It hasn't been updated for 1.0.2 yet. Regardless, the engines should show up in the game if you installed to the gamedata directory correctly.

You didn't just drop the zip file in gamedata did you? You know you have to extract the files first.

The install path should look like KSP/GameData/ftmn_new

EDIT- And by looking at the cfg see that you need to edit the file or get a patch for the nodes

node_stack_bottom = 0.0, -2.0, 0.0, 0.0, [COLOR="#FF0000"]-[/COLOR]1.0, 0.0, 1

just find the bottom node and add -

^There's actually more wrong* with the mod than the bottom attach nodes. The cfg's need quit a bit of finessing to get the engines to work properly.

*And I only mean "wrong" in the sense that they are out of date. This is not a critique of the mod. 1.0.2 just broke it. Funnily enough, the older FTmN rockets work fine with just the node fix.

1.0.2 doesn't like moduleEnginesFX. At least from what I could tell.

No, I moved out the old files and unzipped my files then moved them into the game data dir.

and no FTmN .

restored the older file they work , but now I cannot attach stage seperators to the engines, but yea they are effective

Crap! I could have sworn I got these from CKAN (meaning it was up to date), but it's not even close! This sucks - any other decent nuclear engines? The others I've found are a little too big and bulky compared to these (although some radial or smaller/scale-able ones would be even better).

This mod appears to be authoritatively dead.  It's for an ancient version of KSP, and the author hasn't even logged on to the forum in over a year.  It's looking unlikely at this point that the mod will be revived.  Therefore, locking the thread to prevent further confusion.

If the author, @Kommitz, would like the thread opened up again, please let the moderator team know (reporting this post is probably the easiest way) and we'll be happy to oblige.

Do you have the original "ball" NTRs or are they the updated half-round? Or both? I love them all but the ball models are very nostalgic for me.

I was only going to do the newer pots, but thank @Mecripp for supplying me with an updated copy of the original parts
