Double Mun

Recommended Posts

Quite simple, and I feel like it\'s been mentioned before, but I can\'t find where.

Get NovaSilisko\'s Mun part from http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=1402.0

Put it in orbit around the Mun.

Use fair parts.

Is it even possible?

Oh, and bonus points for leaving it there and returning to Kerbin. Bonus bonus points for leaving it in orbit, landing on the Mun, and returning to kerbin. Ridiculous insane bonus points for landing on the Mun WITH the Mun [part], taking off again, dropping the Mun [part] in orbit around the Mun, and returning to Kerbin.

Whatever you personally consider to be fair. Obviously, the more difficult it is with the parts you use, the more impressive the feat.

For me, 'fair' is default parts, default + SIDR&SD/Wobbly, or KSP Silisko Edition. CFG edits (that aren\'t just rebalancing, such as making a liquid engine that\'s more efficient but less max thrust) probably aren\'t fair.

mother of god..

It would be possible... but we would have to build ships in orbit after every part of the mission...

I knew this would happen. ???

Welp, I put the Mun into orbit without struts and on stock parts the last time we did these things, so I think I\'ll dig up the part file and give this a shot. Shouldn\'t be too difficult to get the Mun orbiting the Mun. Landing could be trickier. :P

It\'s only 18 mass-that\'s a lot less than some of the monstrous Munships people have been building.

The problem is it\'s enormous drag and radius. It\'s very hard to build out from it, and building down results in rockets going wobbly and sailing and snapping in the middle.

Once you get the sucker into space it\'s a lot easier to work with, except, you know, huge lag from huge partcounts.
