.24 Lets give the Kerbals some love.

Wouldn't it be great if they got badges for certain individual achievements, for instance achieving a high velocity or EVA badges

I like the idea of pins like some people have here on the forums, for each Kerbal. In the list of guys in the Astronaut Center, you can see them all by clicking on them.

Almost everything in this thread is planned to be implemented for career mode, even to the point where debending on courage and stupidity of a kerbal, they will be able to do certain tasks on their own.

Resource gathering was also planned. Maybe if we keep talking about how much we want this, they won't shelve it :D

That bit I don't really like, it is good the rest is coming, just shows we (generally) are all thinking alike, which is a good thing indeed!

I am sure there are others who have no need for this however, its a fantastic "finishing touch" that would really add to my experience but its not a crucial game element that others may be wanting.

Wasnt it allready in the pipeline that kerbals would be able to "learn", i recall Harv to mentioned this feature to be implemented somewhere down the line..

Not sure that this is still so, or scrapped though. But i do like the idear that Kerbals become more "involved" into the game as they are now currently..

Also don't forget Kerbal last names.

Jeb, Bill and Bob should retain their Kerman last names since they're the first Kerbals created in the game, and most(or at least some) people picture the trio as brothers.

You can change the names (Sur/last name) in the persistent.sfs to anything you like, in case you didnt knew.

Next to Jebediah, Bob and Bill Kerman, i have now Arran Kermanson, Keil Kamastrong and a Kandre Kuipers as regulars in my game :P

Shouldn't some modder make the OP's suggestion a mod? It could take some time before and if the devs implement this feature in the game

Not necessarily. A lot of the ideas here fall right in line with the career features Squads set on. I'd bet some of these are already in the works.. more or less.

If we're going to give the Kerbals some love (and I agree with everything in this thread) and we'll get more attached to them, perhaps there should be a penalty for keeping them alive by way of quicksave. Say, 1000 kredits to quickload.... Or 1000 kredits to make the quicksave in the first place.

Apparently nobody with the requisite desire and ability exists. This doesn't mean by any means that there is no desire out there for it, or no ability among modders.

Though I agree that somehow the infinite retries should be avoided, subtracting money for a quickload is definitely not a good idea.

Just going to say 5th Horseman, the current model for resources was shelved, not resources themselves.

Aaaaaanyway, I like the idea that each kerbal on a mission would get a position, such as commander, pilot and mission specialist. What if at the start of your space program you could customize your standard EVA suits and standard Jumpsuits (Main three would get orange jumpsuits but same EVA suit as everyone else), and even add your space programs flag to the suit? And kerbal helmets would have set markings on the helmets to designate who is who. (And their role, which may even depend on their statistics, such as the kerbal with the best courage or lowest stupidity would be pilot, the kerbal with the lowest stupidity and lowest courage was the specialist, and the highest courage could be the commander?)

it is under don't ask but not said "not in (first release) of game so it could come out later.

That might be dipping into microtransactions. You don't pay money to whatever higher power there is to not fail launches IRL. We don't want Squad turning into Mini-EA.

I think they meant with the in game currency that is coming, not paying actual money to squad for points to use in the game for stuff
