Rowsdower
Right now, it's only planned for cinematics.
DYJ
What's with the potato sized picture? 500 × 281 doesn't really show anything off very well.

biohazard15
Um... And why exactly this model can't make it into actual game? Adding a 10K polygons and high-res textures won't stress any videocard that satisfies minimum system specs.

Majorjim!
This is far too teasing Squad! Prepare for a billion requests for that suit to be part of the game!

Namely, they would have to recreate all the stock animations so the new model can do what the old one could (because you can't use the same animations on models with different rigging). Also, it may not be possible to run that model in Unity without a lot of work to get the format right.
Guest
TBH, I'd rather have Squad design better suits for actual game than for cinematics. You watch a cinematic once (I didn't even feel like watching this one), you see an EVA suit multiple times. Advertising is important, but actual game content is even more so. This model would probably work in game, though. KSP isn't really graphics-intensive, it's CPU limited most of the time. Large textures might be a concern, but that's only due to Squad's bone-headed texture loader. Even big textures won't be an issue if the bloody thing is properly fixed. NoMrBond
Could always put the Kerbals in the Squad folder so their models and textures could be (more easily) altered to end users content, much like any other KSP entityEven if they had to be built on a certain rig matching the existing in-game one so that they would work with the existing face/body animation systemConsidering you can partially pull this off with Texture Replacer already, maybe we'll see it with a future Kerbals overhaul? TouhouTorpedo
Any intention to get Dan on game content in the future?Though I'm not asking for the cinematic suit (extra polys you wont notice aren't worth it ingame)Maybe he could do IVA's or art passes. NovaSilisko
What do you mean there for cinematics??It's for the prerendered movies that come with every release, as well as occasionally between releases, not for the game.Any intention to get Dan on game content in the future?Though I'm not asking for the cinematic suit (extra polys you wont notice aren't worth it ingame)Maybe he could do IVA's or art passes. He did mention he was moving to start working on game stuff in the last devnotes, I think... John FX
I`d like work on the IVA more than EVA ingame. More switches that do things, readouts etc
Andrew Hansen
I honestly think the cinematics are a lot of work for just a little bit of gain. Just look at the view counts on the cinematics - none have more than a million views. I don't know if Squad does television or Internet advertising with their cinematics (that would make it worth it), but I think Dan's awesome animation skills would be better put to use for making in-game animations and cut-scenes.I found the plot for the last cinematic a bit confusing (the first part, anyway). The VFX at the end made up for it. In summary, I like the cinematics, but I'd like to see more in-game animations rather than cinematics that (I think) aren't really seen by a lot of people.EDIT: I'm happy to hear about the in-game stuff danRosas is now working on. blspblackdeath
I second that. DanRosas animations are great for promotional stuff but I would like to see more of his work on the Kerbals themselves in the game. For example for a rework of the Science System for 0.25. Some EVA Animations and Stuff to do would be great.
