PFFE uses a Firespitter module (FSTextureSwitch2) to add a list of possible textures for the fairing parts. The module specifies (and requires) that the textures must be under a specific directory (e.g. GameData/ProceduralFairings-ForEverything/Textures). That means if you want to use other textures (in our case the MainSailor PF textures) you have to:

  • Search for the textures you want to use.
  • Copy them to the PFFE texture directory.
  • Update the MM patch that it is used to add the textures to include the new ones.
  • Make sure that you did not !*#^%& up somewhere.

It works! Thanks so much! :)

EDIT: except for the bump NRM stuff :(

Its been 4 years since the update, and 3 years since the last post.  Is it possible to use these textures with the 1.8.x or 1.10.x OO or Procedural Fairings?  What if you are running texture apps?

The newest version of Procedural Parts from the RO folks might work with 1.9, but I've not personally tried it. There's nothing else specifically with the textures other than perhaps PBR support (which I don't even want to try to tackle) with 1.10. Because this pack is textures only, it only works where pParts does. Which texture apps are you running?

In terms of fairings, I'd much rather point you towards Procedural Fairings for Everything. They include the Gamma texture, and the solid textures are easily recolorable via the Textures Unlimited support (which I haven't worked with yet.) The latest release is only marked as supporting through 1.7, but I can verify it works at least under 1.9.
