The 8th complete rebuild of my Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor.  This build has is completely rebuilt for 1.3, and is the first to be properly scaled.  I took a page out of landfish's book and used a blueprint and Kronal viewer to make sure it was as closed to perfect as I could get.

The biggest change besides the correct scaling is the redesign of the wings.  I spent tens of hours trying to fit two control surfaces on the wings, but had to settle for only one to get the shape I desired, and still have the winglet nest perfectly into the main wing.

nice but i think you can make the copit nicer if you clip two like this

NLi5eZS.jpg

and you can use the control surves to replicat the engine's of the f22

fNeJph8.jpg

(this is my 0.25 version)

hell the b9 pack has a engine moded after the f22's engine wy not use that on you modded version of the plane (of have i mist that?)

Very impressive work! :D A have a slight weakness for craft replicas, especially when people manage to make them work well under the constraints of stock parts.

Hey thanks a lot. I spent a ton of time on this and I'm really proud of it, so thanks for the compliment.

Yeah that looks cool but I definitely wanted to try and keep the weight down so the thing would perform well. Tried to keep the part count reasonable too.

I definitely had more improvements to make but like I said I'm out of the game until I get a new PC. I was gonna build a full b9 version with those engines. I had already built one from a previous f22 build.

Nice work! I'm trying to make an f-22 but I cant get the wings and the horizontal stabalisers to look like the actual thing after squad removed the old wing parts and added the SP+ wings

Yeah it took a while to learn how to use the new wing parts.

Nice work simple and neat, but there are few things to change: main wings are badly angled and tail control surfaces are nice but seems a little too big imo

Yeah the wing shape is the best I could do with stock parts. And because the new flaps are so under-powered it was necessary to use those slanted, .6 rated flaps. Other flaps could have helped the shape but handling would have been greatly sacrificed.

In regards to the tail flaps, I actually disagree. I think they're too small. If you look at the real thing the winglets are at least half the size of the main wings.

The stock ones are larger & look more accurate to me.

Thanks for the critique though.

About the tail you are right, but the shape is different, so this cause them to looks bigger. About the main wings, the big delta wing are slanted too forward: use the third gizmo to move them.

Yeah I know the tail shape is a little off. But it's a very unique shape that is hard to replicate. In regards to the main wings, I made a conscious decision to rotate them that far forward. Having the winglets nest into the main wings was more important to me than having them swept at the correct angle.

F-22 Raptor MRK V Armed Drone

kkdNYDb.png

MlfpeFX.png

Part count: 141

Max speed at 1,000m: 331.5

Max speed at 10,000: -

Armed version of the MRK IV. The craft is all set up to dogfight, just hit 4 and the Raptor will arm and the autopilot will take over. I have spent a long time tuning the AI to make this my most deadly drone. It's not easy to shoot down.

For more info on the MRK V F-22, check the stock craft post.

To fly two crafts at once:

1) Land the drone anywhere besides the runway

2) Jump to the space center

3) Launch whatever craft you want to dogfight

4) Switch to drone and activate via 4

5) I like to wait until both crafts are at altitude, then switch teams.

Mods Needed:

BD Armory

Hot Keys:

1) Toggle Both Engines

2) Toggle Starboard Engine

3) Toggle Port Engine

4) Arm/Guard Mode/Autopilot

5) Fire

6) Fire AIM-120 AMRAAM x2

7) Fire Sidewinder x2

8) Fire Sidewinder x2

9) Fire Sidewinder x2

0) Toggle Vulcan Canon

Wonderful! :) Only weakness i see here is view from rear (3rd person view)

Rear wings should be in the middle (vertical) of the engines. We both know that stock ksp don't provide thin engines, so u put wings on the top.

It looks great from this shot, but I'm not sure how about pretty same shot, but craft 180* rolled ;d

Other things are tailfins. I thing your resolve is best, but I didn't like it when i was building F-22, so I stopped :(

Anyway best replica for now ;d

Thanks a bunch dude. Means a lot coming from you. I think it looks pretty good from every angle, but there's definitely room for improvement.

My first couple attempts at escorting Colbumbia's jumbo jet. This is super hard to do. I thought the limit acceleration function of mechjeb would do the trick but for some reason it didn't keep them all at the same speed. Does anyone know a mod that you can set airspeed?

I'll keep trying, eventually I want one right on each wingtip of the jumbo jet.

Upgraded my raptor for 1.0.4. Both visual & performance upgrades. It performs much more realistically since 1.03 which is awesome, but the turbojet engines lost some thrust. So I cut all the weight I could. Lost the fans and moved the intakes into the body. The reduced weight means this things hauls now.

By losing the fans I was also able to make it thinner, making it more realistic. The inner flaps are disabled for everything expect role.

Check the OG post.

2) Toggle Main Bay Door

3-8) Fire Sidewinders (Must be in order)

9) Toggle Lateral Bay Doors & Retract Missiles

0) Extend Hellfire Missiles

Testing out the Armed drone and stealth fighters in dogfights. Even with half of the drone blown away it still put up a fight.

Both craft are in the final stages of testing, and will be released soon.

[cb_co] F-22 Raptor MRK V Model 2 by clown_baby on Sketchfab

Specs

Part Count: - 124

Top Speed at 1,000m: 345.7m/s

Top Speed at 10,000: -

For the MRK V upgrade I changed several things. I thought the engines were too close to the back of the craft, and one of the coolest things about the look of the raptor is the winglets way out behind the engines. So I removed the intake cooler and moved the fuel tank & engine forward. This gives it an incredibly smooth fuselage & has the engines where I want them.

I also added that thing that sticks out between the enginesin addition to minor tweaks in fuselage shape. Every panel is perfectly in place to create no gaps or angle differences between panels.

The MRK V will mark the last visual update. This craft is as close to the real thing as I can get. Any future updates will be additional tuning of lift, drag, & the AI.

Flying Tips:

- In order to keep the craft from being able to perform ridiculously tight turns, I have turned off the pitch for the main wing flaps. At higher altitudes (approx. 10,000+) or lower speeds, the pitch can be reactivated to drastically increase turning radius.

- The craft it able to super-cruise at 20,000m at about 1,000m/s. In order to do this however. You must tune the flaps as follows.

Main wing big flap - Disable everything

Main wing small flap - Only roll enabled

Winglet - Only pitch enabled

This will allow the craft to maintain a stable super-cruise.

- Don't yaw too hard.

Action Keys:

1) Both Engines

2) Starboard Engine

3) Port Engine

[stock Craft] F-22 Raptor MRK V

Both the stock Raptor and the armed drone have been upgraded to MRK V. This build is the culmination of hundreds of hours and the four previous builds. This will hopefully be the last upgrade for the foreseeable future. This is as close as i can get to an F-22 Raptor using only stock parts.

The major visible upgrade from the MRK four is that I removed the Intake Coolers that were attached to the fuel tanks, and moved the fuel tanks and engines further inside the craft. I wasn't happy with how close the engine were to the back of the craft. I also placed that part that sticks out between the two engines. In addition I have gone over every inch with the tweak tools, making sure every panel is in the correct place. There are no gaps or angle differences in the fuselage.

In addition to looks I spent hours tuning the craft. Getting the lift in the correct place as well as eliminating drag by using the f12 feature. This means the craft can now break Mach 1 at sea level, and allows the armed version to carry a larger weapons payload.

I have also tuned the drones AI to take advantage of the F-22's maneuverability. With one button it is armed and on the hunt. If you don't know what you're doing this thing will shoot you out of the sky in no time. Videos will be provided soon.

I am extremely proud of this craft, and I appreciate you stopping by to check it out. I welcome any critiques you may have.

Awesome new video. I let the drones fly in synchronized formation before switching teams and letting them duke it out. All I had to do was film. They've had better fights but this one is short and sweet. The one in back stalks him for a little before messing up and getting killed. Sounds a little off, I'm working on my filming.

Synchro flying video for the stock MRK V and new Stealth MRK V craft coming soon. I'm trying to get a twitch up and running. The PC can handle it but my internet is too slow.
