  1. They mark comms connections from your craft to the ground bases and relay satellites. You can switch to different comms views, using the little icon located on the top left of the screen. They are quite handy, if you play with "connection required" on, as probe cores can only be controlled and science thingies can only transmit with established connections. Celestial bodies block connections and the quality of the connectIon is balanced between antenna strength and connection distance. Transmissions are also blocked by re-entry plasma generation, if the option is turned on. Adds quite some planing beef to the game, if you choose to play with these options.
  2. I could imagine a fully closed helmet and the portrait showing the Kerbal with Ironman like HUD in the lower corner... X.x
  3. Very nice and welcome to the forums! If you copy the bbc-code from your imgur picture site and paste it into the post, the picture is shown directly here, so people don't need to leave the page
  4. Thank you very much for the article! The new parts really changed a lot in KSP. So much new things to experiment and play with.
  5. Custom - a nice hard shell exoskeleton like suit.
  6. Continuing to experiment with VTOL propeller craft, with the goal in mind to have one of these serving a surface base on Duna or Laythe one day... It uses fixed RPM settings and throttle controlled propeller deployment-angles, as well as controllable pitch for the engine nacelles. and it already flies stable enough, that i don´t need the help of any SAS...
  7. Snack Poker - crack the Snackpot and win the ultimate amount of deep space nutrient bars Kerbal Metro Sim - build and manage a city on Kerbin and import it into KSP
  8. I was thinking about using a robotic arm, to move the shield away from my Eve lander, before releasing the shield. The arm could then be used to support the landing gear and adjust the landed crafts position for optimal launch conditions.
  9. And more stuff... test-helicopter, that is actually pretty precise in its controls... can ascend and descend at quite slow and controllable speeds. And the continuation of the VTOL propeller plane... it is now almost perfectly balanced, so you can actually control it, without SAS and reaction wheels. Now onto gaining horizontal speed...
  10. Yes, that is true, we donˋt have mixed purpose blades, but my build already uses propeller blades for VTOL mode and it works flawless and with lots of precision. I guess, there is no need for different parts, just other needs for balance and rpm settings. It already transitions well between the two modes, but the centers misallign, which causes the problems. What is a real pain though, is the LF engine consuming so much electricity. Edit: The electricity usage actually comes from the reaction wheels and the probe core... my fault. The engine works perfectly fine.
  11. Hadn´t so much fun playing KSP in a long time. Finally it is back to experimenting... - I finally made a real plane with propellers... Flies pretty stable in VTOL mode, but tends to hug ground features in horizontal mode... needs tweaking for sure
  12. Well... today we walked away from a landing, even if we had lost a leg Propellers are not easy to manage if you have no plan at all, but they start to make sense. A a lot of more factors to keep in mind, when designing a helicopter/propeller thingie. Once you know, that it is not RPM you need to control, everything gets a lot easier. A lot of fun and so much new things to fiddle around with... 1.7.3 is a great update so far! Wheeeeee, back to the drawing board.
  13. There are no mistakes, only more data .
  14. I wanted that from day one... Thank you very much!
  15. That is, what i ask myself in general, without wanting to hurt or judge anyone. Going through these pages mostly show somewhat weird mass collections of solar arrays. I wish solar panels (and modules itself) would generate heat, so radiators would be essential for building space stations and larger spacecraft. Should be an optional gameplay feature for the difficulty settings, just like the already present re-entry heat and comm requirements. And to contribute to the thread, here is my latest weird mass collection of solar arrays
  16. How could i miss this? Wow, you really keep the hype going.
  17. Now fire up some screenies, so we can see the craft, with which you reached this great achievement! And welcome to the forums!
  18. Sorry, did loose my ability to read and commented nonsense... Ignore please... (i hope its temporary)
  19. I really hope, this update finds its way into the public, as what the dev-team is currently doing and adding to the game is worth not only recognition, but a good number on the bank account. I mean, the game changed in a lot of positive ways, even for experienced players and those on board for years...
  20. - larger .625m tanks - larger spherical tanks - electric propellers / got em - .625, 1.875 and 2.5m SRBs - 5-way and 3-way RCS thrusters - proper IVA instrumentation (not a part, but seriously missing from the stock game) Edit: - separate LF and O tanks
  21. Incredible features. The list of ideas and possibilities grows Thank you very much!
