  1. It's what happens when you get old, never happened in my youth and I've had a PC since my first TRS-80 in 1979. I'm still waiting for the fountain of youth to be discovered (and the one in CivV doesn't count).
  2. Yes exactly. It occurs to me there is a communications and experience gap-- those of us familiar with how it's been in Flight simulators for many years know what you're talking about, others seem to think you (and many supporters of this idea) want to add a full blown weather simulator. That's one reason I always suggest skeptics check out programs like FSX--even back in the early 2000's it was able to go on the internet and download real world weather for your current location, and it worked great, just adjust the clouds (especially any you were going to fly into) and graphics level to your computer's capabilities and you were enjoying flying in various weather scenarios (though fog was a taxing one on the cpu back then).
  3. When playing KSP I prefer Mun Pie and Minmus ice-cream over cake.
  4. I put "cheated" in quotes since I'm of the opinion that it's hard to cheat in a single player game like KSP, but this does involve the cheats menus, so what the heck. So it's my second satellite contract in my new career. I'm in the process of adjusting the orbit when I fall asleep for a few minutes and wake to find the sat is now well past Minmus and out of propellant. So in disgust (since I don't uses saves much, I prefer to revert to that start of a mission as a penalty for screwing up) I go into the cheats menu and mark the contract as completed and leave the sat to go off on its merry way like Voyager. So anyone else succumbed to this temptation? Edit: To be clear I mean if something outside of KSP happens like falling asleep getting distracted by a phone call the cat walking across the keyboard etc. would you consider that as enough of a provocation to use a "cheat" or would you start the mission over? Just curious what other people do when that happens there is nothing wrong either way of course.
  5. Yep sounds like the contract never completed for some reason. Look in Alt-F12 and if it's there you can force completion as you seem to have performed the mission so that could hardly be called cheating .
  6. I'll admit to doing this from time to time though it's usually just fleas to give a quick boost, but those bigger ones are a temptation. Also I'm cheap and SRBs fit that mentality quite well.
  7. For me the main thing would be an overall graphics upgrade. A lot of stuff looks rather dated now and computers have moved on in the last five years (and they can be put on sliders so people with poorly performing computers can still play). I'd also like to see a few new planetary bodies though a cheap DLC for that would be fine too--maybe it could even add some alternative solar systems (and yes I know about all the mods). I didn't mention bug fixes as that goes without saying (hmmm guess I shouldn't have said it then); I would hope even if they do a final version that a few team members would be kept on doing bug fixes for awhile even while KSP II is in the works (hopefully). All IMHO of course.

    KSP Making History

Seeing some bad advice. What you wrote is actually "and we will both..." (or maybe "and we both have to...") you left out the word "will" indicating in the future--no problem it just makes the future tense harder to determine (the point is the DLC is not even out yet it so paying for it has to be in the future...unless I missed that they are taking pre-orders on it) ). Anyway the correct phrase is "and we both pay," since "pay" is the future tense. Now if you were referring to something in the past, "we both paid for that last year," then paid is correct (payed, as has been pointed out, is a nautical term it's also archaic). Also apologies if this has been pointed out and I missed it after reading all the posts here my eyes are a bit wonky. As to the DLC--might be interesting though if it's like missions in some flight simulators I expect it to get boring fast and I'll go back to using my imagination, but who knows until it's out? Also bought in Dec 2013, for a whopping $16, and my cost/hr is around $0.01, the DLC would have to pretty expensive to effect that much .
  9. I was curious to see what would happen and reported what did as people always ask about mods this is one example of what can happen. No biggie and it's working with my current career so far.
  10. Crashed on loading the first three times. I didn't have many mods so I just deleted them all (some were from 1.1) now runs fine, so far. (Well I didn't delete NavBallTextureChanger which works fine). Edit: Not sure maybe people misunderstood: this not a complaint just a reporting of what is probably a common situation and a simple way to fix it. I'm sure lots of people in their zeal just update and forget about their mods. In my case I figured it would work or it wouldn't and indeed the only mod I really care about still works--that's a GOOD thing. No harm in trying and no harm in letting people know what may happen if they also are thinking of doing this.
  11. If you code to the lowest possible computer you're going to end up with a crappy program. Try playing with FSX or Prepar3d you'll see it works FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE with A LARGE VARIETY of hardware.
  12. And I'll say what I always say when this comes up...the solution is adjustments, don't have a great PC?--turn down or off the weather settings. It's been done in flight simulators for many, many years now, it works.
  13. I live in the mountains. There are very few line of site things here. Cell phone I get because I live on top of a hill, the people below me don't get much or anything. But I don't think cell signals show this effect very well. Back in the days of analogue TV I could get an off the air signal from a station about 100 miles away despite the fact that a rather large range of mountains known as the Sierra-Nevada were between me and it (sure it helps I'm at 6,000'--the transmission tower was at 50' + its height). It wasn't totally reliable all it took was a couple of clouds hovering above the mountain peaks between us to degrade/destroy the signal. Of course since we went digital the signal strength went down considerably so I wouldn't expect to get anything now. I used to have satellite TV though and those signals would get blocked by a leaf or a snow flake (ok I exaggerate, but just a little ). Note that unlike with AM radio, I'm pretty sure this was not ionosphere bounce the reception was the same day or night and it was low clouds on the peaks that would block the signal (those peaks are generally around 9,000'). Here's a basic explanation of why "sharp" mountains are better at diffraction.
  14. I felt I "got it" the first time I got a monster @Whackjob like creation into orbit. But like others it's all the milestones and new ones that keep me coming back. First time orbit, first time to Mun, first time landing on Mun etc. each time I felt like "now I understand." But then there was something new to strive for immediately after--maybe that's the true "got it" moment when you realize there are lots of those movements .
  15. I've just come back after a forced hiatus: I was able to hire Kerbals to crew my rockets--as long as I can do that KSP is alive and well. When Kerbals can no longer be recruited well than I'll believe one of these frequently occurring "KSP is dead" threads.
  16. Actually someone posted a pic of one from a 1960's Apollo era Navball which is what I did the B&W from. They knew the high contrast would be easy to read probably even under bad lighting conditions. Sometimes simplicity is best. (I'd love a version of KSP where we could build and fly WWII aircraft and rockets.) Interesting design, I'll give it a try one of these days when I feel in a colorful mood.
  17. The ability to have randomly generated solar systems (as an alternative to the current Kerbol system). With various controls like min/max number of different planet types moons etc. sizes of various planet types and so on (don't want to get detailed here). These would be for people who want a new solar system after becoming tired of the default current one which would still be available of course.
  18. I think it's a test, to see if you can figure out why and how to get around it on your own. Alas I flunked the test, after building a rover with a command seat and finding I couldn't assign a Kerbal to it I just deleted the seat, put a capsule on instead and said to heck with it and never tried to use the command seat again. Guess I won't get into the secret government program for clever people who have the patience to work around silly seeming limits. Or in short: it's seems strange to have a command chair you can't easily and intuitively occupy with a commander. Maybe it was only originally intended for use on the other planets.
  19. Nothing to worry about, just the new improbability drive being tested, soon normality will resume. Did you see any Kerbals turning into penguins BTW? Edit: changed immobility to improbability: dang auto correct.
  20. I'd like unicorns and rainbows...oh wait...KSP...I'd like weather and an all-round graphics update, if need be up the minimum specs to accommodate this, it will be 2017 soon.
  21. Dang near crashed I was so fascinated watching it; I'd heard they were around but had no idea where. Probably was my 30th landing or so.
  22. Patient: Doctor, my arm hurts when I do this. Doctor: Don't do that. It's like looking at how a magician does a great trick, usually a big let down.
  23. Maybe you can market KSP thus: "A calm peaceful place where little green people are a-political and just want you to send them into space on top of highly explosive rockets." You might sell some copies to people looking to escape from politics for awhile...I know in very recent days that's the main reason I've been playing KSP..so far away that you can't even see the Sol system.
  24. You are not making any sense. I didn't accuse you of anything unless you were trying to be sarcastic in which case I said it was bad sarcasm. Maybe I misread what you were saying it sounded like you were saying I was stating the obvious. Edit: And if I misunderstood you intentions, and you were not trying to be sarcastic then obviously it's a simple misunderstanding and my comment would not apply which is why I started it with the conditional. Maybe you misunderstood what the word sarcasm means? Doesn't have anything to do with taking the topic seriously.
