Son of a... How'd I not think if this. And I already lost 4 solar panels ascending thru atmo (DREC) when the fairing dropped with an early stage. Now - never again! -

[1.12.*] Deadly Reentry v7.9.0 The Barbie Edition, Aug 5th, 2021
Drew Kerman replied to Starwaster's topic in Add-on Releases
Me again at T+48s I lose a solar panel due to excessive G-forces. I didn't even really realize it it was so quick. But when I checked a bit later (shown in the video) I saw the status message. Thing is, by that time my G-force had become even greater, yet I didn't lose any more solar panels (except for the fact that I was ascending too flat and slamming through the atmosphere fast enough for DREC to overheat and eventually explode them all. Oops I should have left the fairing on longer...). So I'm guessing it wasn't acceleration that damaged the panels but the fact that I was maneuvering in my gravity turn at the time? Or what? I've already launched this same satellite (communication satellite) using the same launch vehicle, and I didn't lose any solar panels due to G-force although I mostly went straight up to stay over the KSC for maximum comm contact length. For the second satellite I was able to use the first to bounce signal and fly over the horizon on a flatter trajectory - too flat it would seem- 5,857 replies

A Mechanic Is Jeb, or "KAS For Almost Everything"

oh wait, I had a hunch after I noticed the AEIS strut and the heatshield were both at the top of the file. I suspected a missing brace and yea - every entry starting at the B9 RCS is missing the closing brace for the @PART definition -

I only found one entry in the KSP.log: [LOG 04:04:07.564] [ModuleManager] Applying node KAS/A_Mechanic_Is_Jeb/@PART[1.25_Heatshield] to DeadlyReentry/Parts/deadlyReentry_1.25Heatshield/part/1.25_Heatshield however I'm looking to grab an AIES solar panel that is loaded into the game: [LOG 04:04:30.150] Load(Texture): AIES_Aerospace/Electrical/AIESsolarpanelES1/model000 [LOG 04:05:42.473] Load(Model): AIES_Aerospace/Electrical/AIESsolarpanelES1/model [LOG 04:05:49.682] Config(PART) AIES_Aerospace/Electrical/AIESsolarpanelES1/part/solarpaneles1 [LOG 04:05:49.777] PartLoader: Compiling Part 'AIES_Aerospace/Electrical/AIESsolarpanelES1/part/solarpaneles1' it's in your parts file: @PART[solarpaneles1] { MODULE { name = KASModuleGrab evaPartPos = (0.0, 0.0, -0.15) evaPartDir = (0,0,-1) storable = True storedSize = 10 attachOnPart = True attachOnEva = False attachOnStatic = False } and Science Revisited seems to find it ok (albeit through a different means): [LOG 04:04:07.709] [ModuleManager] Applying node Robau/ScienceRevisited_SolarPanels/@PART [*]:HAS[@MODULE[ModuleDeployableSolarPanel]] to AIES_Aerospace/Electrical/AIESsolarpanelES1/part/solarpaneles1 So what's up with that? I have several more parts that should be config'd through A Mechanic Is Jeb loaded as well, and yet for some reason only the heatshield gets treated -

BROKEN [0.90] TextureReplacer 2.1.2 (20.12.2014)
Drew Kerman replied to shaw's topic in Add-on Releases
yea I guess it is. I enabled texture compression and it loaded okay. Then I disabled compression and removed HD clouds for some more overhead and it still loaded okay (at around 3.2GB). I've played the game and watched the memory creep up towards 4GB (I have a leak somewhere I've been too busy to trace) and not crash until the VAS showed over 4GB so I wasn't expecting it to crash with less than 4GB (without compression the game loads up around 3.5GB). Maybe there's some kind of allocation spike at load or something. Could there be a setting for how much to compress? I'd like to compress as little as possible to load the game. Unless it's felt that the differences wouldn't be noticeable. I currently run with everything maxxed out as I have a tweaked low-memory GameData folder to use while flying missions. -

Kerbal Kommunity Meetup at GDC - Wednesday March 19
Drew Kerman replied to Rowsdower's topic in KSP Discussion
any kind of meetups, formal or informal, are great to do at GDC. Even if only a handful of people show up. I would skip a session to be there (can watch it later anyways ). If it's out in public and the day is nice might as well be the Yerba Buena Gardens at Moscone. -

Drew Kerman replied to shaw's topic in Add-on Releases
I used Paint.NET and resized the images to 2048 and saved - but when I try to use them the game crashes as it attempts to load into the main screen. This isn't a memory issue - I monitor my RAM/VAS usage and it was only around 3.1GB when loading into the main menu -

ok the game is nuking the FF save file when the game crashes. So that's my fault. There's a memory leak somewhere and I'm too lazy to track it down so I just keep an eye on the VAS usage, quicksave when it gets too high and let the game crash after a while. In regards to the saves, check out this: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/71883-Plugin-Persistent-file-backup-generator His mod auto-saves only when you load the game save file. Don't know if it's the same thing tho for your mod -
