  1. True. But the fact remains. Yes the engines might be nice, but the problem remains, that the N1 was NOT well engineered and or constructed. If it was, then it wouldn't have exploded every single time it is launched.
  2. It was one of the first REAL designs and makes, but sadly there were rockets prior to these designs, some schematics dating to if not prior to the 1900s.
  3. Well yes, the Saturn V WENT somewhere, but theres a REASON why we dont go there. One is that it is expensive and two, is that there was very little to learn until recently. The recent technological boast your seeing in your lifetime is something that was non-existent until the last 20 years. There simply was no reason and also because of the lack of funding, besides the growing demand (and interest) of having manned orbital stations became greater, and sadly the people in NASA whom wanted the station, had been waiting through Mercury, through Gemini (they REALLY planned to have one up during Gemini such as in Big G, or MOL) and Apollo and ASTP. They couldn't wait any longer and besides, if microgravity didn't hold such important learning experiences, then we WOULD have gone back, or more likely, focused more on Mars, sadly that path leads to no SLS, but rather back to the Saturn Nova. It was inevitable. Besides, the Space Shuttles/Soyuz s WAS an achievement, one that has a much LARGER impact than that of Apollo (sowwy, but true). Apollo bonded a NATION together stronger than anything before, the ISS bonded a WORLD together, and it even bounds some parts of the world that ethically couldn't be in the same room together, but because of the SS/Soyuz s ability to make space flight common, changed the world just as drastically. Last reason above all is that think of it this way, we had a Gemini program which allowed us to know what would spaceflight would do to people, how to work in space and so on is basically what the Space Shuttle served as. Now we move onto todays program which is basically Apollo, which is Orion. The basic ideas behind both of those programs is the same.
  4. Yep: it also WOULDVE beaten the US to the moon if it hadn't been so badly engineered or in a different point of view, if it had not been so badly setup with the ONLY launchpad useable by the N1, being on an island. Because it was on an island, it had to be disassembled and reassembled on the island, which (coupled with the engine problems as it was) caused tons of fuel, engines, control and more problems.
  5. True. I agree with both statements completely, HOWEVER I do wish to add to your first point. Many rockets have done stuff unique to their time, the N1 is an easy example. If the N1 had been better designed, the USSR would have beaten us to the moon. By the time we had Apollo 11 ready, they had 2 pre-made and being moved to the launch site. The Space Shuttle has also done a LOT during it's time, being a great transport to space for many reasons such as; launching satellites, being mini-stations for medical purposes and for it's biggest reason, it made the world's largest mobile lab called the ISS. It is the world's largest collaboration to date. Even the Saturn V did NOT have this effect, it had made the entire NATION, not the ENTIRE planet as the Space Shuttle did, however I DON'T want to convince you of anything you don't believe. The Mercury Redstone allow for the America to go to space, how awesome is that?? Back then, it was world changing. Last but not least, and no I'm not explaining this one, go look up the Saturn Nova.... Just look it up and then tell me about the awesomeness of the Saturn V.
  6. Yes I have a LARGE gap, however as stated I prefer you DIDN'T compare the Redstone to a SpaceEx Falcon, it is unfair but I still leave the option open for anyone who wants it. I do understand how the Buran Energia works, Im not new to rockets. I simply listed it as 'Buran' because I dont want people like you to get the wrong idea.
  7. What do you mean? Your a little ambiguous to your meaning. I want to say something on your comment, but the meaning is so vague I can't for I simply don't know how to respond.
  8. Well, depends. You don't have to use the second largest Saturn design to go to the moon, the Saturn 1B does that quite fine without a LM in tow AND the 1B DID perform crew rotations during the Skylab era.
  9. I know that the Energia is the base LV, but still, I am referring to the orbiter vehicle+LV combo. Yes, I kind of did, I just wanted to say it, if I REALLY wanted to be weird I would have hit the "reply with quote" button.
  10. I have been curious about to which rocket (in the old days) is the best. I have MY favorites for my reason, but which one is YOURS? Also why so? Why is yours better than mine?? Tell me and we can decide. Here's a basic list and your perfectly allowed to add to it: -USSR: Vostok Vosthod Proton N1 (I like this one even though it never did anything XD ) Soyuz -US: Mercury: Mercury-Redstone Mercury-Atlas 3LV Mercury 'Little Joe' Gemini: Titan II Atlas-Agina Titan III (MOL/Big G LV) Apollo- Saturn 1B Saturn V Saturn 1 Post-Apollo/Pre-Shuttle: Saturn-Skylab Space Shuttle Russia: Buran This is the list (current of 3/29/14) of what you can choose from, however don't be afraid to ADD to the list, because you'll help to add to the list. My list on USSR/Russian rockets are short so if you want to add to it, then PLEASE, ADD TO IT, PLEASE! Now choose!! However, I'd prefer if you'd choose a older type of craft... hence why the list is 'slightly' bare on new designs. Such rockets as the SLS and so on, are disregarded as we are looking for OLDE rockets, not new ones. I hope you enjoy the conversations below and be nice
  11. I'm playing a server, NOT hosting. I have to go to task manager as the game goes to no response and will be I that state indefinitely, or at least before I force close it. Everything works right, until I start syncing, then it just locks up at 100% CPU. What's #555?
  12. Hm. Damn... Can you make it so in a future version? Anyway, new problem (dammit): When I join a game in kmp and it starts to sync the universe, the game just lags and forces my computer to 100% CPU. I have no idea why, I have tried different servers all empty and modless... Sooooo... Why the **** is kmp hogging my CPU?
  13. Hey guys, I'm back with a question (yes I got all my problems fixed btw): If I had someone host a server for me then, is it possible for me to import a premade .persistance file? One that I have made in SP ksp? Is there a way for me to just throw it in there and have the server run normally? (no mods Ofc)
  14. It's ok Jovzin. Besides, if this mod isn't getting it done for you, go check out the KSO, it's more stable and more complete, but it is more kerbal. So check that out instead if this isn't good enough for you
  15. I would prefer NOT to use anything related to real chutes, I've seen videos, it's not safe. It can destroy stuff and is (from I've seen) untrustworthy and difficult to use. However, I do agree, I will find (soon) where the SSs irl has them, and probably link you to a diagram and allow you to evaluate your decision from there.
  16. *also my biggest request (if not NEEDED) is for you to add drought chutes, I'm willing to accept the fact the way your landing gear works ATM is that it has to act as skis, which is understandable and able to be accommodated IF I have two things (I require both if possible, and their not impossible requests) air brakes AND drouge chutes for when you've made touch down (besides it makes it more realistic which is the goal and idea of the mod) Also for realism, (use whatever needed) have it where the SS has 30-40 after achieving a 1000km (1,000,000m) orbit, as that's where the REAL SSs where capable of. *one last add- Can you maybe add B9 to the mod pack and make a SS Enterprise for ALT testing?
  17. @Dragon- I have the same problems with your mod as I did with the old one on the OTHER forums. My biggest problems is that I have NO launch clamp capable of holding the shuttle. 2- I have no way to structurally strengthen it because a single strut causes it to shatter. Three- the .craft file is unload able. Granted I have had mod problems where I'll load a mod, but only 4 or 5 parts FROM that mod even though I have the entire mod and all parts loaded. That might the .craft loading problem, but the fact remains, this shuttle (in comparison to stock made or KSO) is very unreliable, HOWEVER I must note this is a MOD so saying its unreliable and unstable is a redundancy, because the "idea" of a mod immediately brings up the thoughts of the lack of reliability. If you know or have any thoughts in the above, go ahead. Help I want to use this mod. D: but only if I don't have to go and manually fix everything
  18. @Dolin- Have you considered KSO mod? It's more kerbal than the real world shuttle, but it has an insignia and all. Heck, Nassault630 made his 'Gravoli' movie using it. I use the KSO more because until now.... the CSS mod NEVER worked, not it does (so far, Im gonna use it) so look it up in the mean time.
  19. If there are any OTHER rocket designs in need of designing, tell me the name and I'll start. There are very FEW I can't make without a photo, NASA is my biggest hobby and KSP goes along perfectly. I have plenty of in-game experience so making one should be CHEESE
  20. Has anyone made more accurate recreations? Or are there parts better tailored to this? Thanks, Dan So are any of you still in need of a SLS? I'm VERY interested in this field of rocketry... especially this one. If you need to, I'll halt my current Duna mission and pick this one up. I'm a softy for making real rocket replicas. If you need an idea of what I've made in the past, which is STOCK, I can link you to my google drive so you ca. see it. I'm gonna use KW instead of Nova punch because the fairings and engines in NP just don't quite work for me. The fairings look like cardboard and are VERY difficult to work with in comparison to KW and so on and so on. So I'll begin production as soon as someone replies that I should.
  21. Well I'll just test my stuff out on his dev server. If I still need help I'll ask, ok? I'm a expert at ksp, but I don't understand basic computer stuff, meh what's happens when you love NASA, but not common sense XD
  22. Don't you have to forward your ports before you can host? :/
  23. I have to forward ports, then have to get a security and a program exception for kmp. Then I have to have it forwarded via my Internet, and I forget the rest. THEN, do I reach the hosting part, granted if it says I can. I tried, and tried, but the person could never reach me. :/ so, can you please link me one?
