  1. all of you has forgot the RAPIER, which i tested as jet booster(that after a while become close-cycle engine if theres no enough air intake), & if i got him to 100% to much time it explodes. as an answer to the thread's question, i like the state as its now, too.
  2. thats useful if you want to build your station/base fast..
  3. Currentally i dont use mods, but thx... I think ill use R.A.P.I.E.R only, not regular jet. I tried & succeed at gettting SSTO to orbit with only four RAPIERs(+high-altitude intakes) & one full jumbo, with a little help from boosters in the first seconds. I think theres a lot of hope in these engines... It seems like you can now build a space shuttle without an external fuel tank(or at least not that huge as you though you'll need) with them!
  4. Wow, thx. Ill try to copy that. If ill use skippers or mainsails on the asparagus' boosters it will still get to orbit? Im not opposed to mods, at least not to mechjeb, but im relativly quite starter at this game. so for now im need to get expierence in vanilla... Answer between the stars Using jets or R.A.P.I.E.Rs will do help?
  5. i was trying to lift the jumbo-64 fuel tank(the heaviest payload possible, 36 tons! even the pre-assembled station core is pretty light relativly to this monster) with a docking tug which consist of: - a large RCS tank - a large inline remote control unit - X200-8 fuel tank with 48-7S engine - decopuled from the jumbo tank with large decopuling ring, for manuevering into the atmosphere to clean the orbit. the decopule ring is remaining attached to the tug i tried to lift this payload with the final staging attempt as described bellow: stage 1: asparagus of seven jumbo tanks with skipper engine each, symmetry 2 mode. a large ASAS unit above the central tank, one BACC SRB attached to each of the peripheral tanks. stage 2: X200-32 tank with mainsail engine & large ASAS unit stage 3: X200-16 tank with poodle engine the rest is the payload that described above the launcher is falling & even dont exit the atmosphere no matter when i yawing to orbit. i didnt put mainsail at 1st stage because when on full thrust its hard to control the craft. ideas: i saw that SRB boosters have a nice dV when launched alone(more than the escape velocity of kerbin). would i use mostly them when launching that heavy payload? should i put mainsail on the central jumbo tank instead of skipper? PS: also, if i wanna send a ion glider interplanetary(Eve or Duna), how would i do that? thx for answering & help
  6. So from all the posts here i understood that the only difference between wizards and engineers(regular people) is that single wizard can do many large manipulations on hes nature and enviroment(its just depends on how much he strong & expert at magic), while single engineer need some(actually many) more fellows to get the same results. (its also quite not efficient relativly to a wizard.. see broom-plane)
  7. Well i decided to be the good guy greg and limit your area so the challenge will be simple with a little local place...
  8. so... whats your main fandom? what fandoms you are in(except KSP, of course)? my main: MLP, as you can see from my signature other fandoms im in: avatar, the series MC HP TF2 limbo(the game) amanita studio i have many more, but thats what i found instantly..
  9. ive just been waiting that someone will mention that! I didnt read it, but at somewhere else i asked that question, someone suggested that story as a scientific fantasy... Ok got it, star wars is sci-fantasy. didnt watch dr who so dont know about that...
  10. ok, i didnt though about that. you won this time, but neverthelles, bio-fuel will also takes place in future rocketry. nope, hes right the laser really has that power? Isnt that will gonna burn up the vessel? taken the ion thruster in count, but this isnt enough power to lift you to orbit. As i said, this will not get you to orbit... Ok enough with littering the thread, end of discussion! (Except you, TheSaint, if you want to answer about the lasers...) i also saw that the legend of korra has combined fantasy & tech rather very well...
  11. Oh. Well sorry for the mistake. How can i transfer it?
  12. & i dont mean really close-to-impossible-as-hell-fantastic-scifi like star trek or star wars or something like that, but the type with Tom Clancy's style, which is in the very near future. Atomic bombs, apocaliptic scenes, earthy wars, diplomatic realy possibe dramatic global accidents... what i imgine: transatlantic flights are suborbital, rocket fuel from weed, planets & germs after the oil has been ran out(cuze try as much as you want, you cant make rocket fuel from just electricity ), weed & homosexualy marriage finally legal at everywhere on earth... So, do wizards really need advanced technolgy? Think about that, for every technologic solution we the muggles have, they have the counterpart magical solution: want to talk with someone far? muggles - phone, wizards - floo powder want to secure something? Muggles - electronic lock with high-techy security & jamming systems Wizards - various security spells And so on... But i wanna talk about space & wizards. Yea, they do have astronomic interest domain, but how about wizard-astronaut? Is that resting well in your mind? my mind, at least, it is really blowing... So what do you say? Is a space program really can have a real meaning for a wizard?
  13. Since when the keyboards went tiny & people started to be expert at rapid typing
  14. Ok, here's a little example explanation: 1. First, design a small missle which can get to distance of several KMs from KSC(a single small or large SRB would be enough) 2. design a rover in SPH & drive it, say, 8km from KSC(that'll be the start score if your missle can do that distance). 3. Launch your missle from the launch pad & aim it towards the rover you drove at the beginning(mechjeb or something can help you with precision, thats why its down the score). 4a. If your missle has hit the rover, count the debris pieces that left whole(for instance, seperated wing with a gear and a control surface that kept being attached together counted as one piece). Multiply that number with 250 and that number in meters is subtracted from the starting 8km. 4b. If you missed the target, so instead of debrises you subtract the distance between the impact location & the rover that left undamaged from the 8km given at start. * if it was a boat at the sea, you automaticaly should gain 2.5km to your score. ** If you hit a boat that sail at 40 m/s, multiply its speed(40) by 8 and you got 320m, which added to the starting range. *** if you choose the neighboring airfield's tower as a target, you need to shrink your score to its 80%(thats the final calculation you do, to be clear), cause that tower cant be destroyed and leave debris, which down your score. 4th* because missle form satellite can be relleased from any point in the orbit, range in its simple term cant be counted. Instead of, we are using dV(what is really demonstrate where can a probe get to) as a measure of range. But its worth nothing if you didnt try to hit ground target or another satellite.
  15. may thrusters with alternator be in the vehicle just for power generating function? when you driving at night & you dont have solar resource.. well ok theres the radioisotope generator but nevertheless...
  16. drive, land, or sail a target to distance or luanch a satellite to orbit. Then try to exterminate it with SS/ASAT missle. - You can luanch the missle from anywhere. the luanch pad, runway, mobile luancher, missle ship, aircraft, military satellite... even base on mun(but thats the furthest you can go)... anything is valid! - the longer the range, the higher the score(orbit's semi-major axis for ASAT. if luanched from satellite: dV = range, but you must meet a target to count that) - Subtract 250m from your score for every debris that left as an evidence for target's/missle's existance. - if you missed the target, then dont do the evidence calculation, but subtract the Impact's distance to the target from your score. - Subtract 50m if mechjeb or etc. used for assist. - Add (8*TargetSpeed)m if the target has been on motion while extermination(not for ASAT, if you able to leave rovers in motion so go for it) - you may use easter egg as a target, but then your final score will be 80% of the calculated score(since the EE cant leave debris). +2.5km for sea target +10km for satellite target *Theres no mid-atmosphere target(jet, VTOL, parachute) cause when you leave an airplane while in flight it disappear. Unless you have a mod or something else which let them stay existing & active when you leave them, then add +5km if did it. Scoreboard:
  17. I already edited that, his post has remain me that i planned it without launch&land. Currently i dont want different categories so... do it without mods(is mechjeb needs a different category?)
  18. so no, i already said clearly that refueling of any kind is not allowed(but you may do a docking port for optional refueling, without using it).
  19. how do you offer to do the scoring? forgot to mention that, no launch&land the rover. Sorry.
  20. Build a lander boat which carry a rover and land it on the beach. - The boat must sail at least 1 km in the water before landing the rover, which must traval 500m into the land. - The rover can be either docked or not to the boat and the boat can be controlled by the rover's pod(& do not have a pod for itself). - Amphibious vehicle is not an option, the boat have to be unable to move on the ground & the rover have to be unable to sail on water, they're going to need for each other. - both the lander & the rover have to be made of stock parts - no launch&land the rover. The boat must touch the beach & the rover must get off to the dry land by it's wheels only no lifts are permitted. Also its recommended to use medium wheels for this challenge
  21. Any of the gravitional rules are valid in KSP, except the gravitional constant which i found a little different from the original constant... but yea all the else are same, includes kepler.
